And brains, too. No shame in losing a close one to UGA. But we were very lucky to beat GaT - a goal line stop on 4th and goal in the final seconds to escape with a win... barely... AT HOME.
Then we lose to NC State, a team that is average at best, if you're being honest...
As BC is driving in the red zone for the winning score, we luck up again with a bad snap that dribbles back, so we can recover it to salvage that win. Again... AT HOME. Again, extremely fortunate.
We could very easily be 1-4 with the only win over SC State.
Where exactly would you rank us?

If my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle? But she doesn’t. Alabama almost lost to a mediocre Florida team and did lose to an unranked A&M and they dropped from 1 to 5. Would 3-2 Clemson beat coastal Carolina? SMU? Of course they would. So maybe they’re not being disrespected but there is a bias against Clemson. There seems to be an abundance of National guys who like to beat on Clemson? Why? Because they’re not a blue blood? Because they do things the right way? Ohio State loses at hone to Oregon giving up 600+ yards and now they’re ranked four spots ahead of the team that beat them?? Would that ever happen to Clemson? Not a chance

Georgia Tech kicked a FG with 1:19 remaining in the game to make the score 14 - 6.
Georgia Tech recovers the on-side kick and drives down the field. Had they converted on the fourth and goal play, the score would have been 14 - 12. Clemson DID NOT need a goal line stand to escape with a win...barely. Georgia Tech would have needed to then convert a 2-point conversion to win the game. Who knows what Tech may have elected to do. They may have kicked the PAT and taken their chances in OT.
In either case, there was absolutely was no goal line stop on 4th and goal in the final seconds to escape with a win.
That said, could this team easily be 1 - 4 instead of 3 - 2? Perhaps, depending upon your perspective, but this team could just as easily be 5 - 0.

last year at their place, has to come to the Valley in 2021. Before the season, I can promise you nobody here thought it would even be remotely competitive. Maybe we win only 41-17... if we let them have a couple of TDs in garbage time. You know it's true.

Sounds as if that’s what you’re saying. If so, why?
You play a lot of “IF” games in showing how we might have lost games this year through this or that not happening in our favor.
Try doing some “IF” analysis in areas where we’ve been the ones suffering from an untimely turnover, a dropped pass, or a bad call.
It can work both ways when your eyes are open.

We probably could've played 8 quarters against UGA and never scored a TD. I know that game was only 10-3, but it wasn't particularly close. At 10-0 it was basically over because you could tell we couldn't score.

I will play. This is not to belittle our team in any way, but what I would think would happen with the offense in its current state. NOT projected improvement. I think most of the losses would be very close as the D can keep us in any game.
1. UGA- LOSS-already beat us and would most likely beat us by more now.
2. Iowa- WIN-this would be a close one I think we could win.
3. Cincinnati- LOSS
4. OU- WIN - I mean come on. We own OU! We find a way to win.
5. Bama- LOSS- I think we lose by double digits here.
6. OSU- LOSS- their offense would score just a little too much for our offense to keep up.
7. Penn St- LOSS- assuming Clifford plays.
8. Michigan- WIN- their offense is not creative enough and we pull it out.

You are being extremely optimistic. I think Clemson is capable of beating those teams, but not the way they are playing now. We haven't scored over 20 points in regular time this year against a real team. There are very few of those games that are winnable with under 20 points. Our Defense is good, but it's being beat down by attrition. It's not the same defense that played Georgia. When the offense keeps hanging them out to dry all game they are going to allow points to be scored.
To answer the original question: I wouldn't bet against Clemson in any of those games, but I also wouldn't put up money on Clemson to win many of those games either. Definitely not anyone in the top 10. If we played Georgia again right now they would destroy us.
IF the offense finds any semblance of an identity then I agree that we have a shot in most of them.

Balls get alot more catchable when you are open! DJ has tons of miscues, but the receivers haven't helped him a bit. They drop half the catchable balls they get and they are rarely open.

us 1-4, the exact opposite is just as true. We GET those bounces and we are undefeated, still ranked somewhere in the Top 10 at least. And, we are still the same team in either situation.
I am pretty sure this team knows that Friday will be the pivotal point of the season. They either pull it together, and start the climb back up the rankings, or it all goes in the clumper.
I think there is too much "SuperSenior" leadership on this team to allow it all to die in the Carrier Dome toilet in New Yawk. I shall be riveted to my recliner and cheering them on.

We're not being screwed at all. You are correct. You're just being objective. I think we end the season somewhere close to 10 though. It is a team sport for sure, the offense is not there yet. The defense is top five for sure! The polls are meaningless. Clemson wins they drop, Clemson has a loss they drop. ALABAMA has a loss to an unranked A&M they fall 4 sports and A&M jumps to the top 20. Clemson can only worry about Clemson, fix the problems finish the season strong and be ready for next year. Go Tiger!
