I was struck when Dabo said they only get two live scrimmages before the season starts.

He also mentioned how that’s changed since his time as a player.
The reason for this is to reduce the likelihood of injuries in camp, but there’s a limit to what can be coached unless everyone is at full speed.
It’s head shaking to read outraged reactions to injuries, then see the same folks complaining about offensive production. The offense will click by practicing and playing at full speed. That’s essential for route running and for practicing coverages.
Like it or not, injuries are part of football. I see a staff manages the balance between protecting players and ensuring there’s competition that develops them.

I grew up with AC, but all summer, every summer, we were outside in the heat. With 4 TV channels and no internet, no real choice. We were used to it. Now, it's video games, the net, Tik Tok, all done in AC, so they walk out and 95 degrees seems like something extraordinary.

I would think that is an NCAA rule because all practice hours, days etc are limited by the rules.

Tigers look ready to move on from 2021 when Pitt, Wake, UNC, UVA, Miami, NCSU, Louisville & FSU Offenses outscored the Tigers, and Offense ranked 95 of 119 in NCAA yardage among Syracuse, Rice, Middle Tennessee, South Florida, etc.
Performance is about the play level and depth of personnel -- not the guidelines which every program is under. As for injuries, I agree that the new rules with less exercise & less hitting makes injuries more likely for all teams. Some players will get in shape on their own -- many will not. For skill players who sprint every play, especially WR's, this can have a big impact.

It looks like they’ve put in the work. It’ll be interesting to see how they approach offensive tempo too, I’d love to see that return.
