and they were doing an entire 1 hour episode on the Tennessee Volunteer. Being a History buff and one with a inquenchable thirst for knowledge, I watched most of it and learned some surprising facts. First, the term Volunteer is somehow Belgian for lending a hand, or helping another out. I am not going to get into detail here because I forgot that part, or I was napping. Eventually the term made its way to mining camps near Knoxville in the 1930's for "Lady Vols" or women who lend a hand at mining camps.

I found all of that fascinating, the meaning of words and such. It is a rich tradition in Knoxville, and I am glad to learn that Lady Vols are still around
