I understand everyone saying that Bama and Georgia

will not be seeded by the committee such that they will have to play one another in the semis. The guys on FOX halftime just said it too. But what they didn't ask is this: why should that have any bearing on where the teams are seeded? If the system truly has integrity, this should not be factored into it. Right??? What am I missing? These guys say it like it should naturally be factored into the seeding process. I don't think it should.

My question would be this. Say UGA beats BAMA for the natty. How can you truly say they are the champs, as they lost to the same Bama team a few weeks before?

Because the game they lost didn't matter to UGA. How are you supposed to get up for a game where if you lose it doesn't matter? It's exactly what happened last year when Clemson throttled ND in the ACCCG

We've been down that road with LSU and Bama several years ago.
I think the $EC should pick their champion, and that team can play in the playoffs. If you are not the best team in your conference, you can't be the best team in the country.

It really shouldn't cross anyones lips, if you are considering the 'ranking' of said teams. If the thought of matchup comes up, then you are biased by default. JMO

The CFP will set-up desired match-ups.

That's why in 2016 Clemson played OU in Miami and Bama played Michigan State in Dallas. No way the CFP would have Bama face OU in Dallas. It would have effectively been a home game for OU.

Yep, they look out for those SEC teams. Something needs to be done about it but I don't think anyone will.

Bama/UGA will be 1-2 (as they should be). Nobody can possibly think that Cincy should be anything other than #4. And there's no way MICH should be ahead of Bama when they lost to MSU. There will sadly be an SECCG rematch for the natty

Spot on. It’s stupid to think otherwise! But that’s the way it plays out, unfortunately!

the idea that if one gets beat in the semis the rematch isn’t an issue. If they meet in the championship game they can explain it away as they were the 2 best teams anyway and the process works. I don’t think you can really rank the top 4 teams to the point of saying these are the best 4 in this particular order. That’s where matchups come into play and I think they would rather avoid a semifinal game that was played just a couple weeks earlier with the possibility of not having a rematch for the championship game. One ranking results in an inevitable rematch, the other only allows the possibility of one.
