I love it...tremendous set-up.

Alabama is in if they win out and they're not in it if they don't. Great.

The questions if if Mississippi St. loses at Bama, but wins out, will TCU hang onto that 4th spot by finishing with Iowa St., Texas, and Kansas? TCU has nothing left on the schedule to make a statement with. Furthermore, if Baylor wins out, beating Kansas St. in the process, and WINS THE BIG 12 OVER TCU, what happens to TCU?

Arizona St. probably believes they can get in by winning out and beating Oregon. Is this really the case with a crowded field of one-loss teams?

FSU is still fine. Win and in.

Highly, highly intriguing stuff.

at the end of the day..

Nov 11, 2014, 7:51 PM

we are seeing why an 8 team play off is the perfect scenario

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't agree with that. The more teams you have in

Nov 11, 2014, 7:54 PM

The less drama, and the lower the stakes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

5 conference champs..

Nov 11, 2014, 7:55 PM

with theree at large bids is the way to go..with only.//heck you could make an argument for every team in the top ten being the best team in the country.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are 10 conferences?

Nov 11, 2014, 7:58 PM

Are you summarily dismissing 5 conference champions, just because of the conference they play in? Wouldn't the committee taking at-large teams over a conference champion in a 4-team playoff do the same thing?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

... and less political graft. The stake is still the same.***

I think you are pointing out a problem for sec

Nov 11, 2014, 7:56 PM

Sec going to find it very difficult to get two teams in. If Bama wins sec, I think miss st. will need Oregon FSU or Tcu to lose. The committee moved Tcu up, they aren't on the number 4 ledge, so if they win out, I think Tcu is in.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's fine. I don't think two SEC should be in unless

Nov 11, 2014, 7:57 PM

two of them have one loss, and even then, it'd be quite a difficult thing to decide for that #4 spot.

Agree

I think if Baylor wins out they will eventually pass TCU based on head to head

agree they sure should and they would be the conference champions even with the same record because of the tie breaker head to head win.

Re: I think you are pointing out a problem for sec

Nov 11, 2014, 8:49 PM

Nope. No tiebreaker in Big12. They would be co-champs even though Baylor has the head to head. Heard it on Brando today. Totally ridiculous.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It doesn't bother me how the top six teams are ranked

Nov 11, 2014, 8:55 PM

I know it will pan out and we'll have a true national champion. That's all I really wanted and expected out of the committee.

I'll whine with everyone else that the SEC has a leg up on other conferences because ESPiN runs their dominance into the ground but in the end it doesn't matter. They have to win on the field not in the beauty contest we've call polls.

I can't imagine what it matters if FSU is first playing #4 in the first round or 4th playing #1. I don't even care if they are in the top four except it's a potential trip to Miami for Clemson.

how much should the committee look at the ASU loss?

Nov 11, 2014, 8:56 PM

arguably the worse loss of all the 1 loss teams. I mean 62-27!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, and at home.***
