Out of State recruits and USuC

After listening to the "gamecock" debate, I present this:
Concerning our "Out of Staters"
We have GOT TO stress the importance of this rivalry with the dirtpeckers!!
They have to get FIRED UP to play that scum from Columbia.
Our recruits from SC already know!!
Down with the dirtpeckers!!!!!!
Go Tigers!!!

Tommy Bowden did the opposite.

I disagree. Dabo just talked about the importance of this game this week on an ESPN article.
From the article:
"There's only two things you can ding us on the last four years. We have not won the national championship and we have not beaten South Carolina," Swinney said. "You have to give South Carolina a little credit. Never ever have they been top 10 in the history of their school. Coach [Steve] Spurrier and his staff have been as good as anybody. It's not like we've gotten beat by a bad football team. This is a team that's been better than us on that day. There’s nothing I can do about it. We have to live with it unfortunately, and trust me I live with it every day. Every day you wake up and put this hat on your head, you gotta deal with the result of that game."

When you take that snippit from the whole quote, I see your point. It might be more a mental obstacle than anything.

I don't even count not winning a national title as a "strike" against him.
in my mind he hasn't done ONE thing and that's beat our rivals..........that's it.............that's VERY,VERY,VERY important in my mind. And to say there's "nothing he can do about it......we just have to live with it"............it's very upsetting to hear/read that.
I'm also tired of hearing "well, South Carolina has been good the last 4 years".........#1 they sucked in '09........#2 they have been solid the last 3 years, but supposedly "so have we"..........good teams beat good teams......not get dominated by them

Dabo's attitude about "living with it" I think is not what his attitude is about the game. He just realizes, as should everyone else, that it is now the past. You can't change the past but my hopes and I'm sure his hopes are that the past doesn't repeat itself anymore. I'll bet he doesn't like losing to those peckers at all. I'll bet it is a priority for him because he knows his job ultimately depends on beating them. I doubt he would have been CU's head coach if he had not beaten the crocks during his interim coaching stint. Believe me...he knows how important it is!

I really don't believe that Dabo is going on record as saying there is nothing he can do about beating South Carolina and we all just need to live with it from now on.
I think he's saying there is nothing he can do about South Carolina being a top 10 program and having an excellent staff and that we do have to live with the fact, for now, that they did and have beat us. I think the quote in its totality shows he is very aware of the importance of beating South Carolina and he doesn't sound resigned to losing to them at all.

if dabo places importance on it the players will...........maybe we'd actually win one vs them if that happened.
