Tigernet will be removing lots of posts today...

Jan 5, 2013, 6:10 PM

because if you write about a player, for example Milton Jennings, and you say something that is seen as critical of such an individual player, for example if you were to say: that a player has the hands of a 5 year old
or is a walking turnover
or must only be a practice player because for every one good thing he does in a game there are 3 bad.
...

then the post would more than likely be removed.

I wonder what people are writing right now about this Clemson basketball game.

Perhaps we will never really know.

Egads.

I think it says more about the stupidity of fans that...

Jan 5, 2013, 6:13 PM

they can't see Clemson losing in this game is more because of the missed FTs and inconsistent shooting than Jennings.

KJ just missed an easy layup to prove my point.

One is a senior, the other is a sophomore who is already a better player than Jennings will ever be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't doubt that, but that's not the point.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:16 PM

The reason we are losing ISN'T JUST BECAUSE of Jennings. But if you read this board, that's what most of the posts are.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I't sno just becuase of him no but he's a large part of it

Jan 5, 2013, 6:22 PM

despite the missed FTs we were in good position at the end of the game to make stuff happens and he mentall imploded with mistake after mistake

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My point is

Jan 5, 2013, 6:22 PM [ in reply to I don't doubt that, but that's not the point. ]

there is a player who rarely seems to be using his head and playing SMART basketball and basketball with his heart and head.

If you just heard the announcer speak about it, having to get such player to get out of his homerun trot after hitting a 3.

That player needs someone to kick him in the A$$. If his feelings are hurt by fans who see what is actually occurring, then the player may need to toughen up and look in the mirror.

This player did not lose the game, but if you watch his film in this game, I bet you will find more negatives than positives. This player is a Senior and a supposed leader... but the last "title" is ludicrous based on his recent arrest.

I think he should be benched until he wakes up and realizes that he has talent that could help Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He had an affect on the ending, no doubt.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:29 PM

but he's not the reason we lost. We couldn't hit FTs in the 2nd half, we couldn't make layups, we couldn't/can't rebound, we only have Booker as a consistent weapon. There are more negatives than positives with the team as a whole. Not just Jennings. Jennings is not going to be the 5 star player he was incorrectly projected to be, we all know that. Harping on that fact during EVERY game makes this board look retarded.

I'm ok with complaining about Jennings play at the end of this game, if that's the context you put your complaint in. But saying he's the reason we lost that game is ignorant.

Re: He had an affect on the ending, no doubt.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:51 PM

I agree that if someone said it it would be dumb.

You may have jumped to conclusions. My post blamed no one.

I know why we lost. I also know who did not play well during much of the game - beginning - middle and end. I think we should be able to say that and not get lambasted.

Boxscore:
5 turnovers, 10 points (3 - 6, but 3-5 3pt) FT 1-2
1 block, 2 Steals, 2 Assists, 5 rebounds
4 fouls
This player was responsible for
15% of our points,
50% of our 3Pt shots, we made 6 of 20.
38% of the turnovers.
He had 5 turnovers while the other four starters (combined) had 5. 3 of those starters are Sophomores.

Perhaps this player should ask to be a wing/SF.. the only problem is he has not worked on his ball-handling to be effective. If he could hang around the three point line and wait for open shots, then perhaps he would be stellar.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I want to see players play who have heart and play smart.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:24 PM [ in reply to I think it says more about the stupidity of fans that... ]

I do not see that in one of our Seniors. He did not lose the game for Clemson. Far from it.

But when leadership and smart basketball was needed at a critical juncture, the Senior did not look like a Senior, did he?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's not what your argument was originally.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:32 PM

I have no problems with that context.

I'm disappointed that Jennings never became the great player he was projected to be, but he is still a big part of the team and still helps the team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My argument?

Jan 5, 2013, 6:34 PM

I actually made a statement and assumption that Tigernet will be removing a lot of posts today.

We all saw the same game and know what some posts will be about. They exploded at the end of the game.

Add to the fact we had plenty of chances to make it closer than 5 earlier in the game and didn't. Play in the final minute didn't determine that game. We didn't do enough to win, and it is not all on Jennings.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think it says more about the stupidity of fans that...

Jan 5, 2013, 6:36 PM

No one said it was.
I certainly did not, but we all saw the same thing.

i think you can call out someone and not blame them for everything.

The announcers did after our guy hit the 3 with 4 seconds to go.

Does their comment mean the player was the reason Clemson lost?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think it says more about the stupidity of fans that...

Jan 5, 2013, 6:46 PM

Very true, but none of the other players are called waste of spaces and have people call for their benching all the time. Notice how no one blamed Rod Hall on the inbound pass? Milton wasn't the first or second option on that play to start.

If people viewed Milton Jennings with the expectations they had for Raymond Sykes, the board wouldn't blow up like it did.

Jan 5, 2013, 6:28 PM [ in reply to aren't all personal attacks frowned upon?*** ]

Perhaps... but I find it funny that you can write something that is factually accurate and not opinion and it gets removed.

If some players cannot hear the truth, then maybe they have other issues.

A guy could be a great student, not get arrested, do the right things, be a good teammate, not argue with coaches, etc.... but at the same time, the same guy could really be slow footed, poor freethrow shooter, or very prone to turnovers... on this board... you could not say it even if it was fact.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i don't think i've ever seen reasoned criticism removed...

Jan 5, 2013, 6:32 PM

now, you want to get flowery, you'll probably find the pooper because people have different ideas of what constitutes a personal attack.
