I think Cade Klubnick gonna be hard to keep off the field…

Apr 10, 2022, 8:54 AM

I know I know Dabo says DJ is the starter. But from yesterday he showed his inconsistency passing the ball. Several throws that was off along with a interception. That’s same thing he did last season. I’m not a coach but Klubnick did seem more on target at times. You can see the guy has talent and a set of wheels to run on. I just feel if DJ inconsistent Klubnick sees the field even if he’s not the starter. Oddly similar to Kelly Bryant/Trevor Lawrence situation. I definitely think Clemson has plays 2 QBs this year Klubnick probably gets a package developed for him maybe comes out 3rd series of the game as we’ve seen in the past

I was hoping to get blown away by Cade but just thought he looked good. I wasn’t overly disappointed in DJ as I thought I might be either. Firmly on the fence and think it will play out over more than just the first few games.

I was very impressed with Cade yesterday, have to keep in mind two of those “sacks” would’ve been touchdown runs with how fast he is. Also imo he went against the harder defense and being a true freshman with the line he was playing behind show poise beyond his years. Cade with our current ones on offense would be hard to stop, but I’m still hoping DJ figures it out to give Cade a year to learn and grow. There absolutely zero chance that DJ doesn’t figure it out comes back next year and Cade isn’t the starter though.

This will play out similarly to Bryant and Lawrence.

Apr 10, 2022, 9:11 AM

I still think DJ should move to another position.

I’ve seen this from multiple people, what position other than QB do you think he could actually play at the collegiate level?

If it’s not QB, he has to go back to baseball.

The " rule of thumb position" would be TE.

A receiving TE requires some speed/agility. Even with the weight loss, I’m not sure DJ has enough. TE also requires power and toughness which I haven’t seen from DJ. For a guy his size, he folds up pretty quickly on contact.

All Dabo said was that DJ is the starter going into the summer. Lots of time between now and Sept 5.

I think the Clemson team that takes the field in Atlanta on opening day will be entirely different from the one that you watched yesterday in Death Valley. Yesterday was just an event to end spring training and was meaningless. If you judge this team based on what you saw yesterday you are showing a complete ignorance of the game!

The college football world is changing and it CAN be a real positive for Clemson if you allow yourself to be a part of it.
Quit the grumbling and get behind this team, and university, with your total support. We have, without question, the best coaching staff in college football and yet you complain about everything that isn’t done “your way”. Some of you make me sick. No way are you a Clemson man!

I completely disagree on the last statement. As a Clemson graduate I learned that having an opinion is fine and even disagreeing respectfully with your own leadership is fine too. It doesn’t make you a coot or gamecock fan, it makes you intelligent, and actually shows that you do care about this program. If you don’t like someone’s take state yours don’t criticize the person for having a take.

I am concerned with Dabo’s comment about Cade getting hit by our defense a few times to shake him up….like DJ? I didn’t get to watch but most of the first half, but DJ looked like a slimmed down version of DJ. still had accuracy issues and not looking off receivers. He threw 36 passes and no tds again and 1 interception. Cade threw for 1 td and 0 interceptions. Come on folks, it isn’t rocket science. You do what you do. You took away Cade’s legs with touch football and I understand that for a spring game.

Agreed. Funny how fans are saying you can't get any takeaways from the game. We had very few scholarship skill players on the field but there a are always good matchups to watch on the line of scrimmage. As a general statement, the young O lineman (Leigh, Linthicum, Blake Miller, etc.) show some ability but don't stack up too well against first or second team lineman. I watched the Putnam experiment. Well behind a Hunter Rayburn type IMO. Still waiting on Mitchell Mayes - he's a junior now. Nobody talking about Mason Trotter? Wasn't supposed to be playing most of next season but played almost the entire game at left guard (overmatched as well, moved on from center). Yes I know McFadden didn't dress, I was sitting behind him. Point is Klubnick can extend plays and can run. DJ cannot. This will be a necessity behind this line. Both had lots of balls that could have been caught by a Scholarship player but they both had that handicap. DJ looked like a carbon copy from last year with the exception of 1 throw to Ngata on the sideline. Not sure how strong Klubnick's arm is but he has enough and was accurate into tight windows multiple times (with mixed results). He should move by DJ within 3 games IMO. Go Tigers

It shall be interesting...

Cade will definitely play some. The how much is the only question.

Honestly, I think we (the fans) are too focused on the QBs when the OL is more critical. Give me the worse of these two QBs and a good OL as opposed to the opposite.

That said, it is a glorified pickup game. Hard to get a good read on any position.

How long until we play for real;)?

Wasn't too hard to read the O line matchups. They were mostly overwhelmed going against a first or second team D lineman. Yes I know we have a great D line, so will Georgia, Alabama, and several other top schools. It's a work in progress.

I know who Klubnik is..

But who's klubnick?...
