I still can’t believe that they scored in 13 seconds.

Dumb move by Buffalo not to squib kick with 13 seconds! They would have burned 5 seconds off the clock! Leaving KC with only about 8 second to get their tying field goal…. They also should have gone for 2 after their last TD?
Great game, but play to win, not to not lose……

Yes, a squib kick was in order there. Would have reduced KC to just 2 plays instead of 3.

Why would it have run clock. Squib kick. Gut catches it with knee on the ground. He declares himself down (which is allowed in NFL rulebook). No time runs off the clock and the ball is probably outside the 25.

Yea...the likely scenario is the squib doesnt make it

past the 30 yard line and KC does likely down it...maybe 1 second runs off. I guess the squib is worth a try...maybe the guy tries to field it and it bounces off of him resulting in a few extra seconds.
The bigger criticism is how many D-lineman you have. Typically only rushing 3 and playing prevent is bad but with 13 seconds and them needing chunk yardage....you welcome Mahomes to scramble at his leisure and burn clock. Its easy to say now but rushing just D-Lineman and dropping the rest into coverage makes more sense there. Play extra DBs and its dang near impossible KC gets those plays.
Thats easy to say now, but I think yesterdays collapse will be the subject of serious film study and strategy for a lot of DCs.

They were simply way too far back on defense….

And gave way too much room. KC simply ran the exact route twice with two different players….who basically got a free run off the line of scrimmage. They just really screwed up that whole sequence. Prevent defense can sometimes be OK…but I don’t think they were even running a proper prevent defense at that point.

I guess they were worried that one of the "Up" men would

grab a squib kick, and then KC would only need one play to get into field goal range.
They SHOULD have had their kicker just "take a little off" the kick, so that it landed in the field of play, maybe about the ten yard line. That would be a live ball, and force KC to field it, and burn time, while still having a lot of ground to cover.

Briefcases were handed out well before the game. Got to have a little something for the Pro Bowlers to put in their pockets when there in Vegas.
