I played a game during the game, "Guess the play?"

Nov 7, 2021, 7:39 PM

I actually wrote down the play prior to the play being snapped. I wanted to see if it was as predictable as many to include myself says that our offense is. I think we had something like 67 plays but I missed a few because I had to use restroom or make another bourbon. That said I called 56 plays and got 49 correct and that is 87.5% correct. If that isn't predictable then just think how easy it is for defensive coaches that know tendencies better than I do.

I will say I missed 2 specific plays and those 2 plays were TD's. I wonder if they were TD's because they were not predicted? One play was the pass to Allen up the middle for TD and the other was DJ's 8yd run for TD, I had it as a rb run and not QB run, but I am sure that was after his injury and I wasn't putting runs on DJ at that point.

But if a "Couch QB" can be 88% correct in play calling, doesn't it seem reasonable to assume that defensive coaches can get a higher percentage correct and call counter plays??

It's almost comical when you get 10-11 plays right in a row. Pretty much look at personnel on the field for offense but also guess run on 1st down and you will be pretty accurate. But what's worse is when you know it's up the middle and never get's bounced outside.

I have said we need offensive scheme change but this only cemented this thought further. And I was concerned when TP came into game but I only missed one call.

You weren’t 88% correct. You were only 87.5% correct.

Haha! I actually did say that in the first paragraph but I figured I could round up to simplify the math a little for some. But thanks for keeping me honest, haha

You need to send this assessment to Coach Dabo. He needs to listen to somebody about this dull and boring offense.

I am pretty sure he has heard this from outside noise, I could only hope that he has listened to someone. Maybe Kirk Herb has called Dabo and give him some feedback since he has one kid on the team and hear's the outside noise?

I have 100% faith in Dabo, I just hope this full blown Nepotism doesn't cause his downfall!!

This is impressive; I wish I could watch a game with you. Can you use Tigernet to make play predictions in the next game - just for fun.

What was the criteria for getting the call right? Was it run or pass? Or more specific like wr screen right, delayed handoff to weak side counter, qb draw, qb power, HB a gap dive, read option, deep pass, medium pass, 5 yard out, pass with or without play action?

My question exactly. Run and pass that can be done with many teams based on the situation and personnel.

I am going to call this for the remaining games of the year. 15 to 20% of our plays will be WR screens each game.

I called 2 Louisville plays correctly ..

Nov 8, 2021, 12:34 AM

But only that they would a run…

When 2 receivers would line up before the huddle broke, I was pretty sure they would run it ..
