I left the 2010 bowl game in Charlotte and remarked to a friend “what do we expect, 10 wins every season”?

I have always been a fan of Dabo. I remember waiting with my son for autographs in 2006 and watching Dabo try to leave the stadium in his Expedition behind the west end zone and being swamped by parents of players. At that point I realized he had something special. Little did I know where he would take our program.

Honestly, I would have been satisfied with 8 wins and doing things the right way. He has shattered those expectations and has provided me the opportunity to enjoy a trip to the Orange Bowl in 2014 and to experience a National Championship win in Tampa. I witnessed that with my family, all of us lifelong Clemson fans. I have so many great memories thanks to what he has built.

With that said, I sold Dabo short. I doubted the reality of him being able to do things the right way and have the success we have enjoyed. As I get ready to watch this game tonight I am cognizant of the fact we are at the pinnacle as a program and have been for several years. This is not a one-hit wonder. We are the only rival to Bama an everyone else aspires to be where we are at. Considering that, this win (or loss) will not define Clemson. We need to enjoy the ride. Few get the opportunity.
