I need some advice

So my wife's son my step-son wants to go to 8th grade formal tonight.
She said that she doesn't want him to because he has had problems with sex and drugs.
But me and him don't have a good relationship. So if I say yes to him it would make him happy and my wife mad. If I say no It will make my wife happy and him mad.
What should I do?

Then showing up half way through and confiscating all of his drugs? Since he's in 8th grade, they probably won't be high quality, but might be enough for y'all to have a nice little Saturday.

A REAL father would accompany his son to the "formal" and whenever ANY sex or drugs are offered up, you would fall on the sword and do them so as to protect your son from them.
If you're too skeerd to do that then at least you can show him how lots of unprotected sex with multiple women [or men if you're into it  ] and lots of drugs and alcohol can ruin someone's life. The best way is to let it ruin your life so he can see a first hand example of this. So get going already!!!!
PS I love it that randos are coming to the Junge for fathering advice.
