I love the game of football. I played it for 10 yrs

from 6th grade through college. I’m an OL, always was and always will be, so my knowledge of offenses and scheming vs defenses is limited.

Pre-snap I’m looking what gaps the DL are in, how deep the LBs are set, and where the back is in the backfield, that’s about it.

I’ve always been a much bigger fan of college ball than the NFL. Generally speaking I’d rather watch a D2 college game over some random NFL matchup…. However, after watching the seemingly simplistic, non-adjusting Tiger offense all this year, I’m sitting here almost in awe of this Monday night game. I know, I know, it’s the best of the best of the best… sir… but it’s not just that. There’s creativity, adjustments, deception, and some just plain old blow ‘em off the ball action.

The knowledge that an offensive coach that has spent even a few years in the NFL could bring to a program like ours is game changing, literally. We have those guys on defense… why not offense?

I hate to make this comparison, but Saban brings these guys into his program seemingly every year.

Oh, and the college game has to catch up to the NFL in time management. College games are waaaay too effing long.

The 4 hr college games come from refs having to huddle and help each other make basic calls…

And the never-ending process of review.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

What are your thoughts on zone blocking?

I only played high school and a receiver and safety at that. I
wonder about the zone blocking scheme we use. I admit I don't fully understand
it but in talking to some buddies that played OL it is more of reaction scheme
rather than firing off the ball in a non zone blocking scheme. I know a lot of teams run it
but seems like with a young OL line and people playing new positions it would be
easier to execute.

Also, we don't send guys in motion to help the qb see the defense scheme.

Just my 3 cents. I hear Dabo say it is an execution problem but all plays are suppose to work
if they are executed as drawn up.

I like the zone scheme. It's more difficult for a "new group" to do well.

I agree with the motion.
