I love Basketball

Jan 17, 2022, 4:06 PM

And I don't care who the Coach is I support our team. I dare most of you complainers don't even know when or where we play except to be critical when we lose. A lot of you were watching an all-star high school football game last week not even knowing we were playing an ACTUAL GAME that MATTERED at NC State !!!

That's not entirely true. With technology these days I was able to split screen and watch both games at the same time.

You are wrong. Most all of us follow our team. That’s the reason what is going on is unacceptable to us. Now you may not care whether we win or lose. However, most of us can no longer put up with the pain and embarrassment of losing in such a way as we did at home against BC. How can we defeat Virginia by 17 at their place and lose by 10 at home. Losing by 16 at ND when Woffords former coach now at Va Tec defeats ND. After 12 years with only 3 trips to NCAA losing in first round of two of those signifies an unsuccessful program. We have given Brad because he is a nice guy 12 years , spent 63 million on upgrading the facilities , and been ever so patient with him. He has completely lost the fan base and it seems his players are not giving their all anymore after the beginning of each season. Very few former players support him or the program. It does not take a rocket scientist to see the program as a failure. Time to move on and give someone else a try. Oh
yea I left out he got beat by an inferior team coached by his former assistant and their star player that beat us was Braden Galloways brother from Seneca that Brad must have thought was not good enough to play for him. Get real Buddy.

You might be an exception but I dare say most people could care less except to complain.

It might help for you to know that there is a connection

between one of our basketball staff members and Brevin Galloway’s family.

It is a situation that made it next to impossible for Brownell to have Galloway as a member on our team.

Are you trying to imply it would have been some kind of rules violation - because that’s a load and you know it. Otherwise sounds like it is a personal matter. How does that help your cause? Our staff have bad relations with local players who happen to be siblings of other scholarship athletes at Clemson and that’s supposed to be a good excuse?

One of our staff members is dating his mom.

Jan 17, 2022, 5:22 PM

Leave it up to you to suggest that our staff has a bad relationship with players. That’s so typical.

This post is a textbook example of “othering.” You love Clemson basketball and don’t complain about it. Anyone that does complain doesn’t love Clemson. Therefore any complaint about Clemson basketball is made by someone unfit to comment on Clemson basketball and should be dismissed immediately. It is a cheap rhetorical fallacy.

Face it. Most Clemson fans have no deep interest or knowledge about basketball. They just complain.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I completely and totally disagree. There are probably a few malcontents just whining for the sake of it. But there are actually very few posters really complaint about basketball. There are probably more folks seriously complaining about Dabo than expressing a serious opinion about basketball. Brownell’s biggest failing might correlate to his Ws and Ls but it the slow death of any excitement around our program that is most damming. Most folks have just given up.

Not to mention his type of basketball was oh so painful to watch.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

Do you apply that same logic to Clemson football?***

Please provide a link to where I have lumped an opinion of yours in with a broader group then dismissed it out of hand due to my own supposed superiority. My distaste for you is singlular and I don’t see you as representative of a larger community. You are uniquely terrible.

I attended Clemson from VA primarily based on love of ACC Basketball -- 1979-1984. I had never seen Clemson before I arrived. I fell in love. Great years. Very rarely missed a basketball game. I was in attendance 1/09/80 when Tigers beat #1 Duke in OT. Maybe the most attended Littlejohn game in history. Students, alum and fans were packed in - all stairways were full.
I was in attendance for 1980 home UVA and Furman games that Jan. Furman was even sold out. That was my intro to Clemson hoops. Bill Foster was coach.

I rarely missed a game over the next 5 yrs until I moved to Savannah in 1984. Then I returned for 3-4 home games a year through all the years and all the coaches. I was at Ellis' last game. Enjoyed Barnes' macho attitude. Watched the program go to Shyatt for a while. Enjoyed Purnell's coast-to-coast defense and maybe the best athleticism Clemson ever had with Booker, Stitt, Rivers, Hammond & Mays. Felt like Purnell missed some opportunities to set screens for Oglesby (the Mad Bomber) and the defense hurt Clemson at times when the team wore down from multiple games and travel. Always felt it fell apart for Purnell era when he lost soph Oglesby after 2008-09 season (to Euro pro team). The 2009-10 season with Booker, Stitt, Young, Grant and Oglesby could have been special. But Purnell's teams hustled. Mays was Rodman-light like on the court with Defense and rebounds.

Then 2010-11 came and Brownell was hired. Brownell went from 4th in ACC in Year 1 to 7th in Year 2 to 11th in Year 3 then 6th, 9th, 7th and so on. I stopped watching in Year 3, 4 or 5 when my teenage son and I agreed the games and style of play were boring. I also noticed the paralysis that set in on Brownell teams in the 4th qtr and pressure moments.

Anyway, I look forward to returning for 3 home games or more per season when a new HC is hired. You may not care who the coach is OS57 but most are ready for change of the guard.
