I like to Tnet to learn words

Dec 26, 2022, 1:25 PM

or see rarely used words in different situations. I guess it's a hobby like pets, plants, or stamps (does anyone mail letters anymore besides maybe Christmas cards?). Anyway, I learned 2 new words today:
- "succinct" from hierster
- "egregious" from Tiger Contractor
I can see where these could be easily misspelled by missing the 3rd "c" in "succinct" or one of the 3 consecutive vowels in "egregious".

Sometimes you can sort of figure out the meaning of a word by the context of the message, but it's good to look them up to be sure, which is much easier now with electrical devices instead of page flipping from not so long ago. Words with multiple meanings can be taken either way right?

So if some Tnet genius in disguise tries to insult you by calling you something like, say, a coot, you can look it up and see that it is just a medium-sized water bird and not necessarily a Gamecock fan.

Some words are different in meaning butt similar in sound and construction.
Example: coot, an unwanted interloper on the tnets that is actually a USuC booster.

Spell ck is free in most cases if someone will take the time to google free spell ck, and the time to download it. And most computers come with spell ck app in the programs that come with them from the factory. Plus, Microsoft Edge has a pretty good spell ck with grammar corrections if needed. I learn this with just a HS and tech school education!!!!! Nothing like having a red line under every word you may misspell by accident, or just being a spelling dummy like myself, just get close to spelling a word, and it corrects it for you!!!!<img border="> Do that, and really educated people won't know how bad you are with spelling, unless you tell them like I just did<img border=">

I’m not real sure about coots

Dec 26, 2022, 4:28 PM

They weren’t a part of the forestry school curriculum but, as I recall, they are birds with an Orange head so I would be careful calling a ‘bad guy” a coot!

Hate to break it to you coot, but even though you're a medium size water bird, you're also a medium size water bird that disappears underwater at the first sign of danger.

Warning to all of you reading this. Please take what this here lady says with a grade of slaw. Because she may just be a maroon, and is obviously a band wagoner.

Furthermore, there is a t net dictionary out there somewhere. That's how you look up the meaning of tent words - not the inter web or the googler.
