So, thoughts on the "Championship" Orange Pants in FB?

May 10, 2017, 1:12 PM

do you like this idea by Dabo, or did you like the "Earn Them" mentality brought by Ford? I mean i guess they are pretty much the same, but i dont think Danny would have worn them vs Wake Forest on the road right after a loss to Pitt.

It solidifies a great tradition. Since first losing in them (was it FSU), it highlights that they are special with a winning history. The orange pants are a connector to our first National Championship. The boundaries for them are clear: They are "earned" since we are playing for some form of championship. The pants emphasize the magnitude of a game (even when the championship securing game is vs. WF or Scar). The pants remind opponents and outside viewers of our championship winning tradition.

You asked about the first loss in the orange pants. It was a one point loss to USC in 1984.

We did not play USC in 1984.

We've only played USC once in our football history and that was in 1966.

no more silly debates on what uniform color combination we are going to wear and what our win/loss ratio is in purple jerseys and orange pants. it's already set.

O on W at home, W on W on the road, Purple on Military Appreciation, O pants when a 'ship' is on the line.

Still think the purple pants should be broke out on the road every now and then (whether it be for an "away" championship clinch or whatever. Same with the Purple shirts...maybe for homecoming too with the white pants? Some of our best uniform combos are white with purple!

Purple and Orange, Orange and Purple, however you wanna see it...Clemson is CLEMSON. Tradition is Orange and Purple.

No...you definitely agree?

Wooo! Thought you were trying to disagree about school colors or radical uniform ideas

Reserve them only for championships

May 10, 2017, 2:34 PM

but not all championships are created the same so it shouldn't be automatic. Winning the "state" championship is one of them. We shouldn't raise a bad SC team to that level. It gives them significance that they don't deserve. Wearing white against them just lets them know that they are just another meaningless speed bump on our way to bigger and better things. (now, if they are good, or ranked ahead of us, thats another matter)

I don't particularly like wearing them for the Division championship, but I can get used to it because its a stepping stone for larger championships.

What about Solid Orange Day? If its not for the Division?***

I could be wrong though, it has happened before.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Was Pitt maybe Solid Orange day?

May 11, 2017, 8:32 PM
