I Know What They Mean But The Words Don't Say It

I confess I'm by no means a master of the English language but we should expect those in the newspaper industry to have a rudimentary knowledge of sentence structure. To wit. ".......... he signs to play baseball at Southern Wesleyan University on Monday in Walhalla". I think what they wanted to tell us was "......... on Monday in Walhalla, 'Jose, the Super Star' signs to play baseball at Southern Wesleyan University". I just can't imagine Jose going to play his first game on Monday in Walhalla.

They collect gov funds according to number of kids on a daily basis. They 'dumbed,' down the requirement to move up in grade so kids wouldn't drop out. They are brutal about attendance and torture parents in court if the kids cut school. Put a switch stripe on a kid to get the child's attention and you'll end up paying lawyers, fines and spending weekends picking up trash on the side of the road.

Sorry, Joe. That was probably a bit more explainifying that needed to point out our educational system top to bottom is in a dumpster fire.
