My perspective on Coach Morris ...

Jan 17, 2014, 11:34 AM

There are many reasons to think Chad Morris is a heck of a football coach and could potentially make a great head coach. But there are several reservations that an AD could have. First, the offensive talent at Clemson over the last three years has been top notch - Allen, Ellington, Hopkins, Boyd, Watkins plus solid OL and other skill players. Next year Coach Morris will have to do it with a different cast. If Clemson's offense is a good next year, then the coaching and scheme will get even more credit. Second, the offensive performance against FSU and SC cannot be ignored. Was Clemson just more talented than the rest of the competition? The wins against LSU, OSU, UGA, Va Tech, Auburn and FSU indicate otherwise - but there may be doubts about effectiveness against tougher defenses. Finally, does Morris have the contacts and leadership to hire a good staff? He has only been coaching a few years at the college level. Who does he know and will they work for him?

Coach Morris has a very good resume. It could get much better with another year - especially if Clemson's offense continues to impress.

It just seems like he's so ambitious on being a head coach that he would coach the Citadel if it were offered to him. All of this with him is getting a bit ridiculous and tiresome. Say what you want, but his little coaching dog and pony show takes away from recruiting and seemingly how it's gotten worse this year, what if this has an effect on him doing to his job this season? He's turned into a football ####. Kinda wish he'd take a loser job some where and go away.

I know I've been as harsh about this as anyone but

Morris is just a couple or few years short on experience. I'm not so sure he's anxious to get away from Clemson as he is to gain experience interviewing.

He's going to make someone a good HC someday.

The ad at vandy wanted mason. Really just came down to that. But Morris is as qualified as Mason for sure. If not more so.

I have no problem with Chad interviewing ....

That is his prerogative. Not sure it hurts Clemson.

I agree with some of that Tropical but it's not CM's fault

we turned the ball over so many times. 10 turnovers against a quality opponent, especially six on the road like we experienced vs. Coots, can't be attributed to Chad Morris.

You can't blame Chad anymore than you blame Dabo.

Jan 17, 2014, 11:48 AM

Both have authority and are therefor responsible and accountable. I'd like for this season to have ended with us undefeated but I'd like it if Clemson never ever lost another game.

If ADs had considered the losses a problem he wouldn't have been in their offices.

Past all that if Chad didn't miss a recruiting trip as far as I'm concerned he didn't hurt Clemson at all. We recruited well before he got here and we'll do fine when he's gone.

People get bent out of shape every time C.M. is mentioned in connection with a possible position @ another school.
THE MAN who hired both our co-ordinators {AND DID IT WELL} is going to still be here and I would say if he has to make another hire HE MIGHT ALREADY HAVE SOMEONE IN MIND WHO CAN DO JUST AS WELL!!.

My perspective is he doesn't appear to be so "all in" as Dabo demands from his recruits and players.

I think you need to sit back and see most of this stuff comes from writers and bloggers that only want attention.

Remember they had Saban to texas a done deal .

Remember when Chad was going to NC state , yes the interview was a Favor asked of Dabo.

Morris to texas , yes he is an Aggie , never see this .

So don't believe what you read its mostly wishful thinking
