9th in the ACC while he was at Clemson, and actually finished 8th in his final season. That’s not nearly as bad as I remembered.

in Clemson history that often get overlooked by the casual observer. I’m glad we have real fans like yourself to put things in perspective and save us from the statistical manipulation of lunatic fringe turd fans with all their winning percentages and what not.

We also had a lot fewer teams in the ACC back then. Now finishing 8th would put you around the middle of the ACC. And I'm not sure Larry Shyatt would have ever finished as high as 8 or 9 in today's conference over same amount of years. Look at the total and balanced picture when you post some comment like that.

But just like Brownell, I don't think that would have helped him with his record at Clemson. Just my own honest opinion.

Not sure if sarcasm, but I am pretty sure there was only 9 teams in the ACC during Shyatt's time as head coach.

Larry's records at Clemson were:
YEAR TEAM LEAGUE GAMES WINS LOSSES PCT. 1998-99 Clemson ACC 35 20 15 .571 1999-00 Clemson ACC 30 10 20 .333 2000-01 Clemson ACC 31 12 19 .387 2001-02 Clemson ACC 30 13 17 .433 2002-03 Clemson ACC 28 15 13 .533
Not very good, regardless the number of teams in the ACC.

My betting friend once told me that when it comes to wagering on basketball games, conference records, and beating the spread, you should never judge a bookie by the cover. I have no idea what that means, but it seems like the same logic applies here somehow.

he would have looked much better with a mustache and a pack of Marlboro Reds rolled up in his sleave, I think the players would have respected him more and won some more games.

Larry at Mc-P’s. It was a small private bar with trivia and cheap beer. Larry was a scotch guy though and was incredible at pong. He even had an Atari he manipulated to make the paddles smaller.

I used to deliver Rick Barnes' pizza. He was a supe nice guy, he and his wife would always invite me for drinks, and then see where it goes from there, but I do not drink and drive.

So, I'm guessing you had to stay overnight to finish your work?

Who is Larry Shyatt again?
But seriously, which among us was surprised when that 3-pointer went in?
Just another dagger in a long line of daggers. Head coach not withstanding.

Daggers? A dark, English novel involving a basketball coach is in order here.
