Is there anyone still imprisoned that hasn't had a trial? I have no problem with maximum sentencing for people that crossed police barriers to break into the Capitol. I just want people to have their day in court.

go. If I recall, the ringleader was supposedly a crazy guy living out of a vacuum repair shop.
Usually after something terroristy happens it comes out the FBI was aware of that person, or had even been in contact with them. We don't usually get a follow up on those reports to my knowledge, so it's hard to gauge their involvement. But maybe this rally will just be a wholesome one where nothing bad happens. Or maybe something bad does happen and we get to demonize angry white guys some more!

the FBI. My understanding is that plea deals aren't uncommon for people facing serious charges, often times they'll even work with the prosecution for a reduced sentence! It will be interesting to see what comes out at trial. Maybe it'll be like so many drug trafficking cases we see, where the arrests and charges make big head lines then the cases fizzle out as time goes on.

lakebum's words are iron, not that it applies to federal conspiracy charges. But a good buddy of mine at Clemson was coerced into growing pot by a DEA information, provided, books, grow lights, and first-hand instructions, as well as in incentive as he was told he could move the stuff for him. Well my buddy came from a rich family, he was studying horticulture at Clemson, and just grew the dang things for fun and not to sell. He was generally curious, and of course like to smoke a bit of the reefer. Welp, 5 months later the DEA kicked down his door, found 2 scraggily little plants, took all of his computers, books, etc.. Never filed charges, but turned the matter over to local Clemson PD who treated this like the drug bust of the century. He had to make a plea deal where he ratted someone else out, which he did, leave the state and he was home free. He transferred to UGA and owns his own IT consulting firm out in Denver, he is worth several million. Come to think about it, he never would have changed his major from horticulture to Computer science had this not happened, he actually owes the DEA a debt of gratitude for course-correcting his life.

informants working on the case. Reports indicate one of the informants organized national meetings and paid for hotel rooms, another one was offering to provide or pay for transportation to additional meetings. The only thing I've seen from the prosecution to refute any of that is that those people were predisposed to take part in the plot anyway, so that didn't matter.
That's all aside from the fact that the main agent was arrested for smashing his wife's head against a table...so he certainly seems like a stable, trustworthy individual.
Oh, and let's not forget that they've used similar strategies over the past 20-30 years, maybe longer.
All of this information is out there, you must not be looking very hard.
