I heard Arch Manning could get up to $5million

Dec 20, 2021, 6:32 AM

For NIL from a school…… that would be absurd….

Not with that last name, it wouldn't. Now imagine if the last name was Brady.

Well the school doesn’t pay NIL…but maybe some booster club…… who knows? But CFB as we know it is over.

He can go to just about any school he wants, he will get his money, a lot of the lesser known players either can go to their favorite school for less money or go to the highest bidder whether they actually want to go to that school or not.

Just joining the rest of the family in commercials, will pay him big time.

Think we can count him out coming to Clemson. He will probably end up in SEC.

making 18 yr olds millionaires before they've played a down in college and before they've learned any sort of life lessons, financially and socially, is not only going to ruin college football, but it's gonna ruin a lot of young kids lives. these kids are not mature enough for all this crap.

Re: I heard Arch Manning could get up to $5million

and, i know some will say, "they'll have financial advisors/accountants".. but this whole "makin' kids rich right outta high school" is only gonna teach kids they don't have to go out and earn it. i mean, that's kinda the way the worlds been goin for a while, now. but, this is ridiculous. anyone who thinks this is a good idea isn't grounded in reality.

Re: I heard Arch Manning could get up to $5million

those kids do go out and earn it. No one is paying HS bench warmers? No one is paying kids with grades not good enough to qualify?

Re: I heard Arch Manning could get up to $5million

no high school kid has "earned" millions of dollars playing football. these kids are gonna turn into those people that win the lottery and ruin their lives. watch and see.

Kobe was fine. Lebron was fine. Some baseball players are fine when they get paid right out of HS.

Re: I heard Arch Manning could get up to $5million

Dec 20, 2021, 10:16 AM

yes, but that was a rarity. and, those kids went pro.. they weren't students, anymore. but now, we're headed to the days where any 5 star kid is gonna hold out for whoever can offer them the best opportunity to make the most money. not playing time.. not education.. not culture.. not relationships.. but, rather.. money, money, money.

i don't expect most people in today's world to understand how this is bad,.. much less an 18 yr old kid... but, trust me,... it is.

they aren't getting paid for football. They are getting paid for use of their name, image, and likeness.

The logic is not the local school paying it or boosters, but doing national brand commercials with his uncles Eli abs Payton, Oreo, papa John’s, etc.

In some instances, the boosters could own those companies?? Either way, the outcome will equal a huge sum of money. With Manning, wherever he goes, he will get significant commercial endorsements.

Unfortunately, that sums up where college football is headed (or I should say is at).

Manning will be a national image. He will have ties directly to the marketing reps involved with his uncles. He can focus on playing at the school that best fits what he’s looking for from the football side. He may decide to avoid all local NIL because it’s an unnecessary distraction. My guess is that he will be pretty mature about it because of his family experiences.

Plus his family already has money, so it might not seem so urgent.

If any kid can handle it, it would be him

Dec 20, 2021, 9:58 AM

Given his family. Shoot, even Cooper is in a commercial now! Archie has done a great job of raising his boys to be as humble and responsible (by all appearances) as people in those situations can be. Arch has great role models to look up to and I'm sure they will all give him great counsel and guidance in choosing a college and handling NIL offers/money as well as the likely future NFL matters.

I've been very impressed with the Manning family. Got to meet Archie several years ago. Whether him, or Peyton, or Eli, if you didn't know who they were, you'd never know you were talking to an immensely famous, talented and wealthy person. They just seem to carry themselves with a lot of humility and don't let all the fame get to their heads. I love how they can make fun of themselves as well.

If any kid can handle it, it's a Manning kid.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If any kid can handle it, it would be him

Dec 20, 2021, 10:28 AM

yes.. i agree, if a kid comes from an already wealthy family and has the proper upbringing, then there's a good chance they can handle it. but, what about the kid that comes from nothing, or very little? there are more of those than the former. those kids will be chomping at the bit to get as much as they can, as soon as they can. and, they're gonna learn a lot of life lessons the hard way.

people that justify kids making millions from the NIL just don't get it. it's just not a good thing. there are too many pitfalls for these young, inexperienced, immature, naive kids. they saying is true.. mo' money, mo' problems.. you think that's gonna be any less true for an 18 yr old kid that's never had anything? and all anyone that's influencing them care about is a bought and paid for football championship.

I think he already knows what $5 million looks like. He certainly had never needed money in his life.
