Anything going on in Clemson this weekend, esp Sunday?

Sep 18, 2013, 2:33 PM

Are the Blue Laws still in effect in most upstate counties so no beer on Sunday's unless at a "private" club?

I have some meetings in Greenville on Monday and thought I might spend part of the weekend in Clemson rather than drive up early Monday morning from Charleston. Would love drinking a beer watching the NFL at the Esso on Sunday. And with no home game and the weather being so mild I thought it might be great to chill in Clemson this weekend.

Not much happening in Clemson this weekend...

Men's soccer (currently 6-0 and #4 in the country) hosts Maryland on Saturday, women's soccer hosts Alabama A&M on Sunday and the baseball team practices Friday and Saturday in Clemson and has practice and a scrimmage at Fluor Field in Greenville on Sunday.

checking out of my hotel and having lunch. Can you drink now in Clemson on Sundays or is that still limited to "private" clubs?

the only place in Clemson to drink and watch is top of the tavern , in the city limits of Anderson you can (as you get close to the mall) just about anywhere in g'vle

Wow! So that finally changed! When I lived in G'Ville back

in the late 90s you couldn't get a drink ANYWHERE on Sundays and the ONLY place even open to watch an NFL game was Hooters.

There were about 5 places to drink in Clemson on Sundays back in the late 80s.

- Genoa Club
- JR's
- Bolwinkle's/Zack's or whatever it was at the time!
- Dewey's Top o' the Tavern
- And seems like there were 1 or 2 others

Yea, that whole dollar you have to pay and technically you

are suppose to wait 24 hours, per the SC statute, but naturally as the guest of another member you can go right on in.

During summer school back in the 80s it was $1 vodka night on Sundays at the Genoa Club. How no one ever got killed driving home from that place is a miracle. Just driving to and from there at night stone cold sober can be dangerous, esp with rain or ice on the roads.

However Seneca is not. I'm not sure if there are any restaurants that sell on Sundays there, but I know you can buy beer on Sundays at the Ingles off 123 (right inside the Seneca city limits)
