Clemson sells 57000 season football tix. UNC Keenan Stadium seats 51000. Just pointing out relative interest levels sort of.

I have witnessed first hand...

UNC fans get-up and leave Keenan Stadium mid-way through a football game to go watch a men's intra-squad basketball scrimmage, and that was at a time when they had fairly decent football teams. They even announced it over the public address system so their fans wouldn't miss the tip-off.
Football at UNC always has and always will play second fiddle to men's basketball.

Why? There’s no way that many people like basketball over football…..not possible……I’ll never understand I guess.

I think every school has their one passion sport. For Clemson it’s football. It’s just in your DNA and you can’t really explain it. It’s the same with us and basketball. The schools around UNC love basketball, you grow up with it in NC , it’s just how it is.

It’s more than just football at Clemson.

Baseball in South Carolina is like basketball in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Indiana. When we don’t make Omaha people around here are pissed including me. And we are getting fed up with not winning a national championship, especially after South Carolina, which has never had half of our tradition or success in baseball, kicked our ### in Omaha twice and won consecutive college World Series championships.
Look at the response to girls softball.
Soccer has been huge at Clemson since the 70s.
And being in the south golf has been huge at Clemson for a long time as well.

Yeah South Carolina caught lightening in a bottle for a short time in baseball. As a fan my game is basketball. But the sport I loved was baseball. It’s the game I played through college. When I grew up in NC American Legion baseball was insane!! It seems American Legion ball has mostly died in SC and that’s really sad. I will say we envy Clemson’s football passion.

Last I saw UNC season ticket sales is ~20,000. They probably sell more season tickets for basketball than football.

The row in front of you will break your knee caps if you are over 5’ 10” tall!!!!!!! I guess they cater to Bob and his friends, not cornbread fed country boys.

Mack does it the right way. I was there during his first tenure at UNC and got a first hand look from the inside. He’s all class. I promise you that. He also thinks the world of Dabo.

Mac was the first coach that accepted Dabo’s

request for a visit when he first became our HC. Dabo said Mac was more than accommodating and gave him and his assistants all the time they needed to tour the Texas facilities and ask all the questions they wanted. Those two will always be close friends.
When Mac was rehired by UNC, I told my best Tar Heel buddy that I was excited for his football future. He thought I was crazy, but has told me numerous times how prophetic my words were.
Mac is the right coach for UNC . . . and he’s got my admiration.

Very kind words. I was excited when they hired Mack again. We old farts knew what we were getting with Mack. We understood we were not getting a guy like Dabo who could be around for decades. But we knew we were getting the right guy to bring respectability to the program.
