I have tried to make sense of my emotions following the

release of the first CFP Poll. What I finally came up with is embarrassment, for them. The debate for years has been "The four best teams" vs "The four teams with the best records". Now, we apparently don't have either. Suddenly, the teams you play matters more than how you play in those games. As Dabo says, we play the same schedule every year. We always play two SEC teams OOC, except in years we play Notre Dame, in which case they replace one of the SEC teams. And, unlike some other schools, we don't play the dregs of the SEC, we play contenders. Except in the case of USuk, which is a game that is mandated by the State Legislature, even if they are dregs of the SEC. The fact that they so consistently suck is why that "rivalry" (said with a roll of the eyes) will never be looked upon nationwide as significant.

In a perfect world, Dabo would love to be able to replace some of the ACC doormat games with SEC doormat games. He knows the bias is there. Beating those doormats would not only be easier, but would raise our game in the eyes of the paid off pundits. But, as much as they would like to make college football all about the SEC, there are in fact FOUR other conferences in the Power 5. That is why they call it the Power 5, not the Power 1.

When we win it all again this year, we will not even be able to celebrate as in the past. Because we know, ahead of time, that the win was just another fluke in a long line of fluke wins. There will be no "dynasty", because that term is strictly reserved for Alabama and Lil Nicky. But, Lil Nicky will be picking up the tab at that restaurant down in Florida again this offseason, while the Dumndits trot out a new and even more inventive line of excuses why they lost to us for the third time in four years.

Yes, CFP Committee, I am embarrassed for you right now.

The committee did a perfect job. They matched the top 4 teams up so they can play eachother and and guaranteed us a spot if we win out. It was a perfect job for college football and the business of college football.

I agree with most of your post.
I am NOT embarrassed for the committee. In their position they need to recognize a good, a bad, a mediocre team. Its political. They don’t have the guts to do the right thing. Having said that, it gives our Tigers added incentive to dominate the remaining opponents. If I was Dabo the remaining opponents would pay the price.
