But Deshaun is not someone you want your kid to pull for. He seemed like a great character at Clemson and put "God first" but every action since then has not reflected that.
I think he's a millionaire, deservedly, but people need to realize he doesn't care about his alma mater. He's just a selfish punk.
I hate to post negative about a Clemon legend, but I also want to be realistic. My kids won't look up to deshaun, but they will to Trevor or someone who acts on his beliefs, not claims them.
He's kind of a nasty guy besides his obligation to do nice things every now and then. I don't know why we blindly support that.
Is he a rapist or anything they are trying to portray him as? Probably not. Is he someone who probably used his status for sexual satisfaction? Probably yes
I was a college grad who thought deshaun was the greatest thing that ever happened to Clemson. Maybe he's just a POS.

I have always thought hanging with Hopkins ended up being a bad thing. Not sure what’s up with Hopkins but he seems to walk around with a chip on his shoulder and does not strike me as a Clemson man. Just my observation.

Not going to TD your opinion. Lots of others have shared these same thoughts. Hate all this happened and felt he would not have paid if it was not true. Was hoping he would give Mahomes a run for his money on who the best QB in the league would be but both careers could not have been any further opposite.

Then say nothing at all. Not sure what compelled you to vomit your negative thoughts about another person out of the blue like this, but silence in such matters is what you should be teaching your kids. It is not your or my place to judge others when neither of us know anything about what really transpired. Does it look bad from the outside looking in? Yes. However, you don’t really know what two consenting adults did or did not voluntarily agree to do. Understand, money attracts a lot of disingenuous bad actors and clouds the judgement of even the best of us.
He who has not sinned, cast the first stone! No need to be holier than thou and play god in judging others.

Yea if it was 2 consenting adults I would understand but 20 plus is another story. Not judging just commenting on the obvious.
He is a Clemson guy and definitely one of the best to ever wear the uniform but I believe it hurts all of us that this has turned out like it has.

I understand why you would say that. Everytime a UGA player is involved in something you're here railing about the program at UGA. You're being consistent, and I'll give you that.
If you want to believe there is some relationship with his bad behavior with the school he attended, coach he played for, or you personally, have at it. I understand why Clemson fans would be disappointed in him. But they're not responsible nor does it reflect on any of them. Again, feel differently about that if you choose.

In some ways, this Georgia fan does have a point. It really doesn't reflect on you that DW turned out the way he did.
DW was blessed as a kid by the former FSU RB Warrick Dunn's foundation and just had everything handed to him his entire life. That doesn't reflect negatively on you, Clemson, or Dabo at all. Once money is involved, it is "consenting" only as it refers to being a contract that is "not coerced". Two willing parties at arms' length. But sex is not something you can buy with a contract in the State of Texas. You may have contractual standing; you may agree on principle, price, and product; but you cannot be a "willing buyer".
It is not legal to pay for sex. Please get that through your brain - NOT Legal.
It is also not legal to offer to pay money for sex, even if no sex occurs. Again, Not Legal.
I know: you drive > 55; you smoke weed; you cheat on your taxes; you rip off your cable; you still drive even though you've got a buzz; etc. etc. all this means that you have no idea what "Legal" is, or why it is important.

want to "up vote". Sure, my post tells a lot about me. Above all, it says that I value Law & Order, which in the view of many is being destroyed in this country, bit by bit. Given that I have a brother who is a cop, and I want him to stay safe, it's an entirely natural view of things.
I only showed this fool where his "definition" of freedom was incorrectly applied to business contracts. That's a legal opinion. Do you have a problem with that?
Then I applied his nonchalance to the scale of what happens to a society when people give up Law & Order. Maybe you have a problem with that?
But yes, first, I noted that Deshaun Watson broke the Law, as it is written. Many on here don't want to hear it. Maybe they will downvote me. Have at it. He still broke the Law.
I used to revere DW4. Now I see him as naive, stupid even, privileged in the extreme, lacking in responsibility, but mostly just someone who doesn't have the guts to admit what he did was wrong. So yes, absolutely gutless as well. But I also see him as someone who has wriggled himself into a corner from where it seems there are few if any good answers.

Yeah yeah, holier than though blah blah. This is a message board. What caused me to make this post was a combination of his actions and people I know who have had interactions with him and he acted like he was the president. He's ashamed and embarrassed like he should be.
I don't hate the man, and I was harsh, but for someone in his position (which you are clearly deferring) I am disappointed.
That being said, he was a great representative of Clemson during his years, money and fame changed that and it's not hard to see.
But continue judging me for the callout, not something I wanted, just noticed. Again, it's a message board.
I was taught to say if you have nothing good to say, don't say it at all as well, but also taught to not be silent when you're on something as simple as an online chat. You're reaching at that extent, that's just saying don't say anything on a forum unless it's a positive which is stupid and would lead to no conversation.

For those of us that have been blessed to have grandchildren, I do not see being in the yard and watching children play and hearing them talking about being Deshaun. I will never forget the games we witnessed when Deshaun was QB1 and seeing us win another National Championship but when we was suspended and paid heaven knows how much money to the women, he dropped off my list. Just because you love the result, you do not have to love the man.

for what he did with those women. Based on the accusations, and the consistency in the women’s stories, he was a sexual predator. At a minimum he took advantage of their vulnerability in the workplace and pressured them into sex. It went beyond consensual sex.
But I don’t think it’s fair to say that he is a completely bad person, or selfish in everything he does. He seems to have some very good qualities. My hope is that he has learned from his mistakes and uses his celebrity platform for good moving forward. He has an opportunity to show the world that he has changed. Let’s give him that chance. I believe he will do it.

I don't agree that the accusations of sexual assault have any credibility. A grand jury failed to even indict him, which almost never happens.
What I agree he IS guilty of is soliciting prostitution. I think it strains credulity to believe legitimate massage therapists advertise on Craigslist or Instagram or whatever. One of the detectives in the case stated in a deposition that she believed both Watson and the women should have been charged with prostitution.
That in and of itself is certainly a problem. I just don't believe in following a narrative, just because. I think it's fair to criticize him for solicitation, but not for sexual assault.

The story as usually told, is that these women consented to accepting money in exchange for sex. That is the definition of prostitution.
There must not be absolute proof, or he would have been convicted of a crime.

Most massage places today aren't fronts for happy endings and prostitution, and assuming that these women were doing that is unfair to them IMO.

I think he has some redeeming qualities. He has always been very generous. However, Kevin Durant was portrayed as a Christian young man also. Does money change things for some? I don't know. I think there is some merit to the allegations, however being from Houston now, I know if there was conclusive evidence, they would have brought it.
I was concerned before things came out because of his association with a #### star, Mia Khalifa. I realize that people can have friends from all genres of life, but in the spotlight like he is/was it would be better to keep it secret.
I will still cheer for him. They have not convicted him and to settle the cases it was probably cheaper than to lose salary and endorsements and lawyer fees.

It's a tough thing to judge. I can't imagine being in a world where there ARE endless beautiful women that are wanting and willing to sleep with you without having even fully met you just because of your status. I can estimate that it would give you the thought that you could have just about any girl simply by asking. You can't forget all of the positive things Watson has done for others throughout his life and still does. I be he has learned his lesson.

I share most of tbe same thoughts on this. These actions will most likely and should keep him out of tbe ring of honor at Clemson. The word honor is a strong term that describes a person both on and off tbe field of play. I'm not sure what happened with him, but I find it hard to believe that he was totally innocent. I am moving on and really don't even follow his games or career anymore. My personal choice, I wish him success, but I'm interested in him any further.

You don’t know anything about Deshaun. Have you ever met him? Do you know him personally? You don’t know the motives of his actions. You obviously don’t notice the countless times he gives back to his city.
People change as well. A lot of people change from when they’re in college to when they’re 30 obviously. People screw up, some people more than others. Especially when you’re living in a dream reality.
I’m not going to make anybody think badly of another person because of what I think to be true. Besides, he hasn’t been indicted of anything.
Also what makes you think he doesn’t care about his alma mater? And why do you say obviously? Again you think you can be 100% correct about another person’s thoughts but you can’t.

everyone loved him and thought he was the best guy ever. He gave money to Houston charities, had that thing with giving the Texans lunch lady money. He was answering press conference questions in an interesting way about football tactics. And everyone here swore he was the best guy while at Clemson.
It certainly sucks how all of this has changed and now we cant exactly feel the same pride about himand how we loved that national title team.

review, it is "implausible" beyond the bounds of reason that 20+ women showed up to give a "massage", and also then unilaterally suggested that they have sex with a young man that they did not previously know.
That is, implausible beyond reason even as the evidence was only circumstantial; we can, indeed, "know what happened".
She's specifically stating that your viewpoint isn't well thought out, nor valid, and thus Watson can only be determined to have broken the Law for Soliciting multiple, multiple times.
If people can't get this, they shouldn't Vote.

Plenty of criminal investigation with no resulting charges. Watson was cleared by a grand jury of criminal charges related to the sexual misconduct ALLEGATIONS.
Plaintiffs attorney is a sleaze bag law suit machine. Reminds me of a particular real estate developer that sues his way through life.

no Grand Jury looked at allegations of Soliciting, and there are plenty of reasons why. In any case, DW4 is/was Guilty of Soliciting. The NFL Mediator said it could not be denied.

I will say this, what truly happened is between God and DW4. The Duke Lacrosse players were crucified by the public and everyone was calling for their heads, me being one of them. We were all wrong about them and their reputations were ruined over lies. We truly don’t know what went down and for that reason, I refuse to turn by back to DW4. I’m not perfect, nor is any man. Who am I to judge? I’ll leave that to God.

This issue brought up about it being illegal to be a party to a contract offering money for sex is interesting. We all understand if there were a contract it was an informal verbal one using words we don’t know. So where does this stop? If a man offers a woman dinner, trip together, jewelry, anything with financial value or promise of a relationship of some kind isn’t he (and the woman if she accepts) breaking the law?

This is easy, most of the time.
On a date, you normally don't pay the date. You pay the restaurant, the driver, the theatre, etc. etc. for services rendered by them. The date receives "value" from this but it isn't strictly monetary. The contract is with the service provider, and not the date.
Same normally goes for a wife, but you're drifting into Family Law there, which is State by State, and has had fairly significant swings over time. Generally you're not going to get arrested for boinking your wife unless she's got bruises or she was a prostitute before you got married and some agreement was made to keep paying her.
If DW4 had asked one or all of these ladies to go to dinner with him 4 nights after the massage, and they retired afterwards to his Apartment for sex, he's generally OK. If he paid 10+X the normal rate for the massage, then the excess might likely be attributed to the anticipated sex.
DW's problem was that he had a contract for services and paid money to a woman, but then with the same woman, and in the same venue and time space he had sex. They're then appropriately going to attribute some of the contract money to the sex and not the massage.
It is absolutely illegal to pay for sex, or to suggest paying for sex. It is unusual for prosecutors to go after Soliciting. Indeed, Texas didn't present either Soliciting or Prostitution charges to the GrandJury. They presented Assault charges. The Civil Suits are the only reason Soliciting comes into play. People say that DW4 "didn't break the law, and wasn't Indicted". The first is wrong, and the 2nd is correct. He did "break the Law", just not the Laws presented to the Grand Jury. Someone cut the boy some slack.
Neither he nor his deflectors on TNET seem to appreciate what was done for him. 22 counts of Soliciting to 22 different women could have easily, as the NFL Mediator said, been interpreted by a Criminal Court to have been "aggravated" in the sense of a "serial sex offender". That's a black hole much worse than what Vick got convicted of....

Nobody is as good or as bad as you think they are.... has DW made some poor decisions? Yes he probably has. Is DW a POS? No, he is not.
We all have skeletons in the closet and most of us grew up and went to Clemson when everything you do wasn't on twitter or social media. If social media was around when I was at Clemson... I would have a lot to answer for.
Did DW probably get a few happy endings when getting a massage? Probably yes.... Did those women probably see an opportunity to make some extra money? Probably yes. If I was a twenty something year old millionaire, would I get some happy endings? Probably yes. Have I ever had a happy ending ? No comment.
The truth is always in the middle. If everyone was able to see everything you've done in your lifetime, what would the world say about you?
I'm not saying he's innocent, but I am saying we might be a little judgmental on Mr. DW.
