I graduated in 1988 and have to admit...

the music that year was pretty "meh". A few good songs, but really a lot of average, forgettable junk. Even the bigger artists that had multiple hits seem to have put out B side type songs.

You shoulda been born in the fifties. More good stuff from any single year in the sixties than the entire decade of the eighties. Just my humble opinion, of course.

There was some great music in the 60's, but if you go back

and listen to each year's top 40, there was some really bad stuff as well. 70's too.

Every generation thinksstheir music was the best, but I think we all can agree that the "music" that is out today is utter garbage.

In 1988 there were killer albums released from REM, the Pixies, janes addiction, Sonic Youth, talking heads, ministry, morrissey, siouxsie,

You gotta get off pop radio best of lists.

And that is even more so today! I don't listen to top 40 or

country top 40. Listen to the Marcus King Band...from Greenville, no less! As good as anything out there, and he's only 25 years old. They're the best band out of South Carolina since the Marshall Tucker Band! Marcus is a truly great guitarist...can play any genre! And his drummer is from Clemson!

Marcus King is awesome. Are you familiar with Playing for Change? Couple years ago, Marcus led off their version of The Weight by The Band with different musicians from all over the world. Pretty cool vid:

Agreed - graduated in 1987 and listened to the hard and southern rock music of the 60's and 70's. Pop music sucks. My roommate was a diehard Bocephus fan, so that got me into Hank and outlaw country.

Every generations thinks their music was the greatest, I agree, but when bands stop being bands and started piping in outside beats/music into its songs then that was the day the real music died!
