You're right. Choosing to play at school that wont win the
SEC is dumb. If he chose Bammer or Awburn then there MAY
be some justification. SC isn't automatically a top team
JUST because they play in the SEC.

I'm gonna give my 2 cents, I wish I could find the thread where I said it, but I said that Bailey looked like a gamecock. I hoped other wise, but is just thought to myself that he looked like a gamecock, I wish we as a whole on Tnet could stop the string, negative comments toward a guy who chose a team other than us, even if it is our rival. If he reads this and still has anything in him that could turn him, I believe that would end that. I also worry about other recruits, maybe even our own, who read that and form an opinion of Tiger fans.
Aren't we better than this guys? He is 17-18 years old. We will be fine at OL. Look at the 4 we have committed. We just need to continue taking in 2-3 stud lineman each year on each side of the ball. If we do that then we will build and maintain a wall. Let's not act like a guy at a dance who got drunk and in a fight because a pretty girl chose another guy.
We are The Tigers and don't have to beg. Our numbers are tight and it does give us a spot for more defense. I wanted Bailey and Boulware, but we will be fine.

He is a Dirtpecker coach .. 'nuff said.
That isn't what this thing should be about though. The kid was a solid lean for the Coots from day one , we made a nice effort but in all honesty he would be our #3 best OL recruit in the current class , ahead of only Giella. I guess the proximity thing to Scummerville and his Coot roots were too great a pull.
Good luck to him in all games except ours.

Y'alls o-line class is very good but ours is right there with it. I doubt playing time is his reasoning. If anything caused him to pull the trigger I would think it's that we just got the lineman from Florida. Our o-line class is filling up so he probably just wanted to save his spot at the school he was already heavily favoring.

Major mistake on his part. As the season goes along, I believe he will see his mistake but won't change his decision. Too many coots around him.

I think his folks have some money, though. His dad moved here with Boeing from Washington a few yrs ago so all he knows is Carolina winning the rivalry game. He's also been fed the SEC propaganda since he was old enough to think abt playing college football. Poor kid. I wish him well but see that we are flat loaded at OL....I believe we'll be just fine without him.

Maybe I'm thinking of another kid, but I want to say I read last year that his parents had ties to the school. Maybe they graduated? A lot of the opinions I read that had him leaning to SCar would point to something like that.
Maybe they moved away and then back to South Carolina? Or am I remembering it wrong?

I've expressed my concern about Bailey as an athlete before. Him committing to us was going to be a glass half full type of thing for me. Hopefully this open us up for some of the elite DL that are still on our board.

Am I mistaken or do we struggle for instate recruits?
The general Western Upstate seem our only reliable grounds.
Orangeburg and Bamberg are the exceptions.
The Low Country (and I lived and love the Low Country) is a Coot-filled Hell.

I love how the coots main selling point is the SEC. I love how we sell tradition, family atmosphere, championships, an upward swing in overall talent and depth, etc. Think sc ever polishes that 69 banner they got for going 7-4?
