I don't think BB gets fired.

Mar 10, 2022, 6:47 AM

DRad put a ridiculous buyout in before he left and the 5 game winning streak prob gives Neff enough to say "I'll give it one more year" with the buyout and end of year progress. The injuries will be considered, too. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a change, but pragmatically, I think Neff gives him one more year.

I would tend to agree with you. If he was getting let go one of the boosters would have leaked something at this point and it would have been rumored in Clemson media you would think. No post season play for this team, so if something is going to happen it would be in the coming week I would imagine.

Why would anyone think he would get fired after a winning season? He met the expectations of the AD which is to have a competitive team, run a high character program and accomplish it on a low budget. CBB also provides stability to a program which has struggled for a hundred years. I understand we have delusional fans who think any up and coming coach is sitting by their phone clamoring for an offer from Clemson that is not the case. Perhaps these fans did not pay close enough attention to the last two coaching searches for coot football. There are several ways to break out of mediocrity but cycling through coaches is not one of them.

I agree - set the bar low, keep expectations low, learn

Mar 10, 2022, 7:36 AM

to be happy with mind numbing mediocrity, convince ourselves of the lie that it can never be any better, and we're all set! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

Right - Why is it so hard to admit? We're not good in

Mar 10, 2022, 9:13 AM

Basketball. It's okay to say that - quit pretending so we can get about fixing it. The proper response is, let's try to be good, to get better. Let's make the changes needed to be better. Let's quit doing the same old things that keep getting poor results.

Your perception of a "winning season" is extremely generous. 17-16 is the least "winning season" a team can have. After 12 years this is not acceptable. 22 wins should be the floor not the ceiling. CBB is a good guy but not a coach in demand by other schools (that should tell you something).

A winning season is defined by more wins than losses. Its digital as its a winning season or its not a winning season. There is no gray area and it does not care about your feelings. As far as 22 wins per season how did you calculate that number or is it some unachievable number you are throwing out knowing we have never averaged that many wins in our history?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Okay let’s talk about the conference record

Mar 10, 2022, 9:35 AM

It’s a digital thing.

We had a losing season. No question about it. It was a losing season. Doesn’t care about your feelings and whether you can justify it away. It was a losing conference season. Why should he stay?

nice reach but all games matter so 17-16 is a winning season. your wanting only count the games which justify your agenda is fun but does not change the actual facts

Wouldn’t consider 12 years cycling through coaches. JStone you seem to be one of the delusional ones. Think this is a good as it can get? Us delusional ones have higher expectations. I could careless whether he goes or stays but to pretend everyone is delusional because they want to move on from average is… well I want even say. Making it a point from now on to not even reply to your BS. Everyday same shizz. Expect better!

The buyout is only less than $3 million at installments. With only 3 years left, would you give him a lengthy extension so he can recruit well?

Are you guys giving Clemson enough money to buy out contracts.?.??? Times are hard right now in college sports. Especially at Clemson where new sports are being added this year. Gymnastics and Lacrosse will require new facilities , coaches, scholarships etc. . Join IPTAY

Re: I don't think BB gets fired.

Mar 10, 2022, 8:01 AM

Ha, we’re adding Lacrosse and Gymnastics yet we are broke? 2 sports that stand zero chance of not losing money. However, the A.D. put in a high buyout on a coach absolutely no one is knocking down the door to talk to so now the athletic department can’t fire him?

But please, join IPTAY!

The budget needs to support the demands. We are launching two new sports due to Title 9 requirements and adding a stipend for all athletes to counter the NIL payments from the SEC. So what do you want to cut? We tried to cut track but folks pitched a fit although they have never been to a meet in their lives. The thought that there is an unlimited pot of money is not true and we are focused on keeping key sports on top (football, soccer, etc) so something has to give

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The buyout is only about $2.5 million***

There seems to be a lot of misinformation in this thread

Mar 10, 2022, 8:04 AM

At least when compared against the extension reported to be signed in October. 1) Brad has 4 years left - contract through 2026 2) buyout is only ~$1.2 million based on 48 mos at $25k/mo remaining. I believe the rate of the buyout doubles in April or May so this is the cheapest point to part ways. I believe this was intentional as both parties knew this was a critical season. That said- 1) were there specific benchmarks that had to be hit? 2) were there mitigating factors 3)how does the AD change impact the decision?

I think they wait and see what PJ does. I don't think he will enter the draft this year, but if he seems to be considering it, then I think BB is gone. If not, they do not want to take a chance on him transfering due to the coaching change. Me personally it will be status quo for next year.

PJ loves clemson and will be back...
