I don't so much mind us running three straight times on our

last possession, as I do the WAY we ran it those three straight times. We could have at least done something like the Jet Sweep, or play action pitchout to Shipley, ANYTHING other than just running straight into a brick wall up the middle.
It sure would be a refreshing change for us to have the ball in our hands at the end of the game, making the critical first downs to run the clock out, instead of depending on BV's defense to hold the fort and bail out the offense yet AGAIN.

We were clearly making sure that we did not LOSE any yards; playing for the FG (which worked).
To our shock, Louisville raced down the field on their last possession (after we had stuffed M.Cunningham on a few of their previous possessions).
Without M.Cunningham's last minute-and-a-half fabulous drive, no one would have complained about the 3-and-FG drive as our last offensive possession.

The play calling is just so unimaginative ,it’s shocking folks who are making these calls have done what they’ve done in the past.
The very last resort was kicking a FG and taking a chance at losing by 1. Time was not going to be an issue for Louisville so running straight up the gut ,and I’m assuming they were aware our O-line couldn’t blow anyone off the ball, just so Louisville would use their TO’s was such a bad call .
Just a simple swing pass, run outside the tackles, jet sweep, something that everyone watching on t.v, knew wasn’t coming. Again, making Louisville use their Timeouts wasn’t going to be a determining factor in whether Louisville scored

Clemson always play it safe when other team is trying to get ball back. We never try to call play to get first down. Our goal is to try to get other teams to use their time outs and eat clock. Notice the difference when we lost against uga and pitt. Their offense didn't play safe and just got first down after first downs so our offense never got the ball back. TE needs to go this yr.

Clemson‘s recent offensive success has nothing to do with Tony Elliot‘s skills, it has everything to do with the phenomenal players we’ve had at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver (notice that I’ve left off the offensive line, because that has been a week area).

a toss sweep can lose yards or put the ball on the ground.
We played the percentages because the field goal meant they had to get a touchdown.
Without 2 miraculous plays, they would never have been close.
and if the offensive line had blocked for Taisun's run he might have gotten the first down. I HATE watching replays where an offensive lineman is staring off into space while a defender runs right by him to make a tackle.

I’m with you on this 76er. I text my buddy the same thing last night during the game- Clemson has had multiple games this year where all we needed to do was pick up a first down and the game was over. And we didn’t pick up a first down. It’s the difference between playing not to lose and playing to win. Feels like we do a lot more of the former than latter this season. But…
Unfortunately for us this year, I don’t know that our offense has the horses to do what we should do and put the game away. Specifically on the O-line. Maybe we do. But it feels like we’re in a nasty circular reference with our entire offense - players and coaches - coaches don’t fully trust the players to execute, coaches call super safe plays that 9 out of the 11 defensive players suspect and surprise, the play yields very few yards. Or the players don’t execute. Could we have picked up a first down with a play action pass when everyone thought we were going to run it? Who knows. I’ll be surprised if the coaches do it any differently for the rest of this season though.
