I do personally miss Bill Wilhelm more than Leggett.

I wish he could have been the coach at Clemson forever, even if we never went to the CWS I would have rather have had him as the coach. But we did go about 10 years in the 80s without going to the CWS. And then we started going pretty regularly.

As a Gamecock, I’ll never understand the Leggett dislike by Clemson fans.

Both went to six CWS. Wilhelm went 4-12 in Omaha while Leggett went 10-12 and two semi final appearances. I know both of those ended poorly, but he was a heck of a coach.

Many people saw his last few years as going downhill. I see both sides of this but the program appeared to be going down.

If choking means failing to win a CWS then you are spot on. He went 6 times and couldn't finish the deal. But his record in getting to Super Regionals and to Omaha was as good as anyone in the country during his tenure. He was eliminated in 2010 and 2011 by the best team in the country which was, to his misfortune, our rival. His teams had always been cyclical. With a slight bit more patience, Jack would have been able to utilize renovated facilities and had the Chris Okey / Seth Beer squad that should have made it to Omaha. If you don't think he would have most likely done so you are kidding yourself to justify what has happened.
