I didn't think it would be this bad, but we really miss Nuk

Oct 29, 2013, 10:30 PM

Our O line wasn't great last year. Looking back at the games it becomes pretty apparent. It was definitely better, but not by much. The difference is that we had Nuk as a release valve. Didn't matter how much pressure Tajh was under. He knew that he could throw the ball in Nuk's general area and he'd make a catch. We don't have that this year and I think that's the main reason for Tajh's down numbers and inconsistent play. Although according to Dabo we're not far off from last year. He doesn't have a go to guy anymore. He didn't have to go through his progressions last year because he'd just stay calm and throw it to Nuk. Not so much this year.

Then again, it's hard to complain about 7-1. I guess most people are concerned about the upcoming games based on how we've played the last 3. I am too, but my mangina isn't hurting as much as others.

Go Tigers.

Mangina. Always thought that sounded sort of like a mix between a tangerine and a mango.

Nuk would be the difference between us having a 'special' season and a good season! But he had to do what was best for him and his family. What are the odds that he comes back and has 82 catches and 18 TD's again? The losses of Nuk and AE are very apparent to the flow of our offense.

The Nuk factor is all in TB's mind

Oct 29, 2013, 11:01 PM

I've seen Tajh hold on to a lot of balls after taking long looks down field. He threw those passes with reckless abandon last season. Watkins and Bryant are as capable as Nuk of pulling down the jump ball. We have seen it in spurts but I don't think Tajh has the 100% trust he had with Nuk.

Exactly. He just had a certain amount of chemistry with Nuk. He doesn't seem to have that this year. Nuk would know to cut a route short when a blitz was coming from his side. Our receivers don't do that. It was the same with Ford. Tajh and Ford were on the same page. Tajh doesn't have that chemistry with our TE's this year either.

Agree. Sammy has his type of plays

Oct 30, 2013, 12:29 AM

but Nuk and Ford had the chemistry. Bryant disappears during games and has not filled enough of the void. None of the TE's have caught on like the guys in the recent past. I wish Mike Williams would begin to catch fire during the last part of the season. I think these are the main reasons for Tajh's hesitation.

could you make it anymore obvious you're a coot...

with all this it's Tajh's mind BS.

I think Sammy played like a "go-to guy" against Maryland, and probably against Georgia.

He's been much more consistent this year than last, but probably not quite as explosive as freshmen year.

The biggest difference between this year and freshmen year is that he was relatively unknown freshmen year and there were other weapons teams had to gameplan around.

He has been around for 3 years now and every team knows he is our clear #1 weapon. We haven't had a solid #2 develop to support him.

Sammy doesn't have more huge games...

Oct 30, 2013, 2:39 PM

Because The Chad doesn't know how to use him and get him the ball. It's frustrating. He had a great game last week, but it could have been even bigger. Some of it's on Boyd, but it's more on Morris-- his playcalling has been dull and predictable all season long.

I agree completely.. we need to find more creative ways to get the ball in the hands of our playmakers. And some more trickaration from past seasons would be awesome :)

Having Sammy on the field with Nuk took some attention away from Nuk. Right now, it's all Sammy all the time. He get's a lot of attention.

The Oline played good last year. It's played terrible this

Oct 30, 2013, 6:13 PM

year. Aside from the turnovers, all our problems on offense stem from terrible offensive line play. Tajh has been taking a beating all year, and has had hardly anytime to pass.
