that description of the 2017 cfp championship game is correct. that game was the national championship of the 2016 season.. and, clemson did lose to bama 45-40 the year before (2015).

But read it as if the description was written as of the time of the game.

In other words at the start of the 2017 CFP Championship game (which took place in Tampa) it was true that the year before Alabama had beaten us 45-40.

We didn’t. Read the guide. We won the 2016 national championship playing in the 2017 cfp. We lost the 2015 national championship playing in the 2016 cfp. 45-40
