And if they have any intelligence at all they'll listen to their lawyer and just shut up about it entirely for now.

Whether guilty or innocent, not immediately begging for forgiveness (or begging to be acknowledged as innocent) is not a sign of guilt at all.

That said, I have no choice but to trust the Clemson PD when they say they have firm evidence. I just don't think they're stupid enough to make statements like that at a press conference and then come up empty.

So all signs point to his guilt. But I totally and 100% understand their reticence to admit guilt publicly before letting the justice system take its course.

I have to interject here; how are thousands of people affected by this?

To what degree will this change the outcome of anyone's life other than a prankster kid?

I fully understand the attachment of a fan base to its traditions and images and by no means condone the purposeful trashing but please, get the priorities straight here - life will go on.
