Exactly! The wind took 3 days to wind down from that one and caused snowdrifts on roofs with eventual collapse.

Not super windy here just south of charlotte. I lived on NATO Air station Keflavik Iceland for a few years as a kid. 60 mph wind gusts with crazy pellet like snow happened a few times.

goes in intensity. Had a lot of just rain - lucky none has been freezing or we would be in trouble. Only time I remember wind and snow together real strong was in Basic Training at Ft. Bragg - we were on a forced march of 10 miles, I think, and the storm blew up halfway through the march. Had Jim Cantore type thunder snow and we couldn't wait to get back to the barracks. Had several inches of snow before we got back.

A bit younger but yes I have i just was a looooong way from upstate SC
Btw the weirdest snow fall I have seen was in Illinois
Large black thunderstorm cloud hovering with snow just rolling out like a July storm in Pelzer

Fortunately, just north of the Chlt speedway the wind has been much less than the forecasted 25 - 30 mph gusts. Early was snowing then sleet for the last 4 or so hours. The lack of heavy wind has likely kept the power from cutting off, but will keep fingers crossed as night time rolls in. Good luck to everyone dealing with it.
