Grades by Unit

Here are my grades by unit, with a few players singled out.
QB-C: DJ-C; Cade-A DJ looked way better once he settled in. Cade was outstanding but the sample was against and with back-ups when the game was out of hand. He needs some opportunities with the 1's before we head to Wake. RB-C+: This was a tough one, blocking was pretty poor. Given the situation I thought they ran hard. WR-D+: Here we go again with the drops and struggling to get open. Antonio Williams-A OL-D: Another, here we go again. Blake Miller was overwhelmed, he is a true freshman...I was disappointed staff didn't shift Parks to RT and give Tucker a shot, at least for a few series. They need to figure out how to play as a unit. Also, the middle of the OL got very little push when needed.
DL: A-Henry was a beast, Breese was unblockable. Davis, Orhorhoro and Williams were outstanding. With athletic QB's need to watch against over pursing. LB: A-Man, they looked fast. I love Carter, Simpson and Trotter as the starters. Bentley and Maguire we solid as well. Simpson is as advertised, he should get All-American votes. DB: B-Jones didn't look good. Mukuba was outstanding. Need to see more of Wiggins and Davis. Would have liked to seen Pride/Lukas with the 1's for a few series.
Coaching staff: C+ If they are going to roll with DJU, the RPO scheme needs to be completely modified, that is not a strength of his . I am good with QB draws but that is about it. They need to be willing to change the lineup up when necessary or to get the best personnel groups on the field given how the game is going.
We still have lots of issues at OL and WR, don't understand why we can't fix this...QB, at least we now have options. We need more speed at WR. Games like this don't help recruiting especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Good summary and I pretty much agree with you. The only thing I would add is that I would split the coaching grade and give grades to both offense and defense coaches. I'd give the "D" an A- and the "O" a C-. I never believed Streeter was the right choice for OC and still don't. I think we would have been better going after a proven, "star" OC that could update our offense and attract more elite recruits on that side of the ball.

Perhaps the real issues is...

that Dabo needs to stop meddling in the offense and let Streeter do his job. Take the play sheet and the headset away from him.

You could be right. One thing I absolutely hate that we saw last year and now we are seeing again this year is the play calling on third and one. Why can't we take a snap under center and make a yard instead of lining up 5 yards in the backfield in shotgun? You saw GA Tech do the QB sneak with great success in those situations yet our 230 lb QB can't do the same and make a yard? It makes no sense and continues to contribute to a lot of 3 and outs.

Our punter, Swanson, looked great imo.

Half of the GT defense during Cade's drive were starters.

yea Tech was still running most of their starters against Klubnik. Couple that with the O line being 100% 2nd teamers, and it makes that last scoring drive even more impressive. Some of those second team o linemen (namely the center and right tackle) looked better than their 1st team counterparts (granted it was a limited sample size).

75 was the center. I believe 77 was the RT.

at all. Several missed tackles and gave up leverage on multiple pass coverages!
