Dabo a d the coaches know what the problems are but

Oct 18, 2021, 10:08 AM

they are staying quiet for obvious reasons. Taisun’s Achilles is probably not all that strong and we’re better off with DJ than with Helms. DJ is not suited for a major change in schemes. Those are the kinds of things you don’t out out there for other teams to know. Thats my take. They’re not so dumb that don’t see what is obvious to fans and analysts.

Why did they play TP in the SC State game if he was still recovering from the heel injury? It’s not that,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yup… it ain’t b/c TP can’t go***

TP came in for one play on Friday night.

Picked up two yards running off tackle. Had he handed the ball to Pace instead, it would have been a huge gain if not a TD.

All of the Cuse defenders keyed on TP.

Hunter balled out in Spring game

This is all about high-level QB recruiting and the playing time commitment/visibility made to 5* recruits...

I agree with your post. I think the coaches are keeping a promise made to DJ and family. I respect them for that..but...

All of this might be true but I can’t see

Oct 18, 2021, 10:37 AM

Dabo not doing something different with the offense playing like this. They might put TP in for a few plays but maybe they don’t trust his injury for a whole game or for serous time. My point is I bet we won’t find out why all of this is happening until after the season.

I believe Dabo and the coaches are doing what they think gives us the best chance to win.

Having said that, we have multiple issues including OL development, WR development, play calling, QB consistency and TE production.

It’s not good and I will watch Saturday pessimistic about our offense suddenly “putting it all together”.

Not the fancy answer people want, but this is 100% the truth.

Nobody wants to hear it, and many think a magic wand can be waved over it all, but the fact is:

1) We're missing depth at O line b/c of bad luck (2 career ending injuries) & 1 transfer.
2) Too low of numbers on the O line to begin with (IMO).
3) Made problems worse by taking O lineman out of position to cover weaknesses & cross training.
4) Put Justin Ross in the slot, b/c we don't have anyone else that can do it.
5) Questionable, conservative and predictable play calling.
6) Poor route running and blocking by the WR's.
7) Rookie RB coach.
8) 2nd year WR coach.
9) Rookie TE coach.

There are too many issues here to wave a wand over. It's going to to take time, playing experience, more recruiting & more development.

We'll progress throughout the year, but it may be a year before we see the old offense performances we used to see.

Best thing we can hope for are no more injuries (and that we get some key people back).

Love this list. Spot on TigerCC. Representative of how many different issues the coaches (plenty of relatively new ones, as you stated) are trying to fix.

I know there’s a ton of comments on Tnet about using the portal more, importance of changing our approach to oversigning. I see some major themes here that tie back to the macro concerns that our previous approach with recruiting is putting us behind the chains on the numbers game of college football. I really hope the coaches realize what worked previously may not work now. And depth issues, while exacerbated by injuries, are not “just football”. Same as supply chain issues aren’t “just business”. The winners are the ones who manage through the changes the best. Feels like we’re slow to adjust on the field and off right now. Hopefully that changes sooner rather than later.

There are a lot more issues/problems than DJ.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s probably true but I wouldn’t mind seem get in for An occasional series.***

Dabo and Tony don’t know how to fix it.

Oct 18, 2021, 5:01 PM

I’m telling you.

If they did, they would have done so by now.
