He touched in the field of play, then it went to the endzone. I think the Tigers and Louisville both touched the ball again before it was recovered in the EZ. That's what I saw. Not sure what the rule actually is in this case.

I think it's because we never established control of the ball. It's no different from the ball hitting the leg of a player on the receiving team which would still be a touchback if it went into the end zone after that.

No one possessed the ball so if we recover in the end zone it’s a touchback. If they had recovered it would have been a TD
