The UK failed to flag him as a terroristic threat. He was investigated and identified as having a mental illness. He was not a radicalized terrorist in their view.
Now should he of? In hindsight the UK should have been more aggressive with him but hindsight is 20/20 and I am sure they will re-evaluate their reviews.
That being said, whilst it’s equally bad he got into the country, it’s equally bad he was able to obtain a weapon literally a day upon arrival.
So to your point there are two failures
1) on border patrols on both sides of the Atlantic in not properly handling this man
2) gun laws which allow a known mentally ill man investigated by terror police to get a gun within a day
So how about we agree on this
There were multiple failures on both sides yes?

Why would he need to when he can walk into a store and buy one?
Now he may of bought one on the street probably cause he didn’t know he could get one on a store because what kind of place has a law like that? I mean you just can’t buy guns in the UK.
I am not saying the border services didn’t make a mistake. They clearly did.
The point I am ALSO raising, which you haven’t denied, is did we also fail because Texas has such shoddy gun laws?

From reports given, the gun was acquired in Texas. Not NY.
