Tell me this

Oct 15, 2021, 7:02 AM

Our offense is last in ACC but got more 5 stars than any team in the ACC on offense.

Well it is not hard to figure out what the problem is or am I stupid. Yes I am but?

No it is not TE fault then who is it?

How many 5 star offensive lineman?

Whose fault is that if they don't recruit 5 star OL?

Very few 5 star

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Uh, we have offered many, but our OL coach

Oct 15, 2021, 8:00 AM

has not exactly loaded us with a 5 Star OL. This is most likely his las year as our OL coach.

The OL has been a big problem this season, with some improvement against BC. I expect them to get better each week, but they were not 5 Star recruits.

Wait...

Oct 15, 2021, 8:28 AM [ in reply to Re: How many 5 star offensive lineman? ]

so who is to blame, Tony Elliott or Todd Bates? I'm getting confused.

It's obviously the recruiting services for not giving more stars to recruits. Everyone knows a 5 star is guaranteed to outperform any lower rated prospect.

So youre saying

Oct 15, 2021, 1:30 PM [ in reply to Re: Wait... ]

GT, NCST, and the rest of this pitiful league have, in reality, as much or more talent than Clemson? LOL.....man, we must absolutely SUCK at evaluation lately. Which, oh, by the way, would tie back to coaching again......so either way you slice it, its coaching.

S. Jacobson is an idiot. As are you.

Yep Im "name calling" or stating a fact. Either way you want to see it is fine with me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You seem rational right now...

Oct 15, 2021, 2:40 PM

I think I'll trust your analysis of our football program.

Oct 15, 2021, 1:39 PM [ in reply to Re: How many 5 star offensive lineman? ]

We RECRUIT em.........just cannot get em! Bama, Ohio State and Georgia get virtually ALL the 5* OL every year and have for decades.

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We may not have many 5 star OL, but I bet our average OL

Oct 15, 2021, 8:13 AM [ in reply to How many 5 star offensive lineman? ]

recruiting ranking is as high or higher than any other team in the ACC.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually by the stars we've recruited better on the Oline...

Oct 15, 2021, 9:20 AM [ in reply to How many 5 star offensive lineman? ]

the last 3 years than we have probably since the Ford days.

that begs the question of Why are they still bad?......the only constant is coaching, so I think that's the issue.

also, to the previous posters point........we've recruited better on the Oline than our ACC opponents as well.........GT, NCstate, BC are NOT recruiting 5star lineman either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Actually by the stars we've recruited better on the Oline...

Oct 15, 2021, 12:06 PM

Maybe they have been bad.. but until this year they sure have won a lot. Even set records for points per game and yardage.

Hmmm . Let that guy coach as long as He wants! He has earned it!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's simple logic.

Oct 15, 2021, 2:56 PM

Some folks fail at logic. That pheebo dude is certainly one of them. He only pops his funny face out when things go bad.

Next question. You answered the next question.
Who is it? San Andres. It's the only fault I could think of.

Re: Tell me this

Oct 15, 2021, 8:08 AM

Not real knowledgeable of football ranking of players; someone advise

"How many OL players are ranked 5 star each year?

"Is there an equal number of 5 star players ranked each year per position i.e. QB, RB, OL, DL, etc.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are no more than six 5 Star OL recruits

Oct 15, 2021, 8:25 AM

signed across the country in a given national recruiting season. It could be half that many in an average recruiting season.

Our OL Coach Robbie Caldwell needs to retire, and that seems to be the path forward after this season.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are only five 5 Star OL recruits nationally

Oct 15, 2021, 8:39 AM

in the 247 Sports recruiting site for 2022.

Rivals also only has five 5 Star OL. recruits nationally for 2022.

ESPN only has three 5 Star OL recruits nationally for 2022

Tnet?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is no one single/simple fix...

Oct 15, 2021, 9:23 AM

It's a combination of things that largely stem from having only 2 of 11 starters returning on the offensive side of the ball.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Re: Tell me this

Oct 15, 2021, 11:51 AM

I agree!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, you are being stupid.

Oct 15, 2021, 2:52 PM

When you can't execute from the QB and OL positions, it doesn't matter what plays you call, they're not going to work.

Tony Elliot has been the OC and primary playcaller through six years of playoffs where we finished #2, #1, #4, #1, #2, and #4. There's been ONE team better than us during the span.

At the same time, we were #10 in offense and #6 in passing offense last year. The same QB who is struggling this year threw for nearly 1,000 yards last year in two games and some mop up plays. He completed 67% of his passes, and during his two games as starter he set the all-time record for Death Valley comebacks and the record for most passing yards in the storied history of Notre Dame.

So, OBVIOUSLY, Elliott's offense is one of the best in the country and certainly one of the most consistent. Imagine for second if Trevor was running it this year... we'd be undefeated with exactly the same playcalling.

That's not a knock on DJ. Obviously he can perform great in the offense, but the problem is he's down to 54% completion rate and after 5 games is still about 150 yards behind his passing yardage from last year. He's not accurate and not executing ... although he is getting better.

So, the problem is OBVIOUS,and it has nothing to do with playcalling.

I suspect you're just a juvenile troll or perhaps, to quote you, "stupid".

Let me know if any other questions. Thanks.
