People rarely, if ever, underestimate Clemson. All the talk of "they don't believe in us" comes from Dabo and it's directed at the fanbase, who eat it up.

It was less about Clemson being overlooked or slighted than it was a reflection of the season. Bama had wins over #4 LSU and #4 Georgia. Clemson's best wins were #16 NC State and #17 BC. Picking Bama wasn't an exercise in hating or underestimating Clemson. It was perfectly reasonable.

It started before the first game, and was especially prevalent after 4 games into the season...all the media talked about all year was this was Nick Saban's best team ever.
Even us beating ND 30-3 didn't change the narrative.

Pumping Bama as Saban's best team ever isn't the same thing as underestimating Clemson.

They ignored Clemson completely, even though they were clearly one of the two best teams in the country. Everyone was saying Clemson had no chance because this was Saban's best team ever, and college football's best team ever. What was the final score? Right, and nobody said that Clemson was the best team ever after they walloped Saban and his team quit on the field...
Clemson was the first team to go 16-0 since the twentieth century started, and they beat the team everyone was saying was the best team in college history (going into the game), yet, nobody has that Clemson team listed as the best ever, much less than the best of the playoff era...

I feel that it's going to be a wild season for our Tigers, but as wild as it maybe our guys are going to come out on top. Nail biting in a couple of games yes, but we will come out on top in every close game we're in this coming season. Our game against Georgia is the only game on our schedule that I worry about, but I would be very happy with a 11-1 regular season!!!

11-1'would be amazing!
10-2 would be okay as long as both losses weren't to Ga. and FL. State.
Go 10-2 and crush the dirtpeckers and beat either Georgia or FL. St.
If that gets us in the ACC C'ship game, I'm a very happy Tiger fan!

Pretty ridiculous IMO that there are even odds on postseason placements in July.
Somebody needs more to do.
