College football is changing rapidly as the result of NIL and the portal. It is more important than ever to have a charismatic figure on the sidelines. You can make a strong argument that you no longer need someone who specializes in X’s and O’s. It is at least equally important to have someone who can help attract players and make deals.
At the end of the day, Trump wrote a book about making deals and has a huge social media following. Someone is going to take a chance on hiring a coach like that. I could see Trump ending up succeeding Saban and Obama could end up in the PAC or BIG.

You still have to coach. The talent pool at Bama during Bear Bryant was so deep they started limiting scholarships due to their domination. He didn't win it all every year despite having unlimited recruiting resources.
Dabo seems to get more out of what some would call lesser recruits. Call it "coaching up", "system", "playing with purpose", "scheme" etc but good X and O guys have been beating hype men for a long time. Urban Legend was pretty well hyped going into J'ville and now he's on the repentance/pity tour.

In my haste to post this idea before anyone else, I left out that a key part of the strategy would be hiring elite coordinators and letting them do the play calling and stuff like that, kind of like Trump having a guy like Steve Bannon run his campaign. Good leaders delegate.
Trump or Obama could do stuff like posting pictures of players on Instagram from the sideline or Tweeting advertisements for Dominos, or even letting fans call plays for cash as part of an NIL deal. This would result in a war chest of NIL cash that would likely keep players from leaving for the NFL.
It’s all part of the evolution of the game. I’m really curious to see who goes there first.

I'm sure this post is tongue in cheek but I'll bite.
"...someone who can help attract players..." is where it goes off the rails. If you remove the recruits that believe "Trump is a racist, etc.", have family that believes that, or are just not willing to associate with Trump because of the pressure from the psychotic woke crowd, you aren't left with very many recruits.

Not tongue and cheek at all. At the end of the day, money talks. Do you really think Deshaun Watson uses a Samsung phone? He was sponsored by them but I’d bet he was surfing Instagram on an iPhone. Elite defensive ends aren’t going to walk away from millions because their Aunt Karen believes Biden got 81 million votes.
I get what you were saying though which is why I picked the SEC for Trump and PAC/BIG for Obama.

It's an interesting concept but, beyond anything, I'm still not sure how many teenagers are willing to risk their woke friends/mob coming after them. It's been shameful to see how many people, young and old, have folded under the pressure or won't speak up on behalf of others. The mediocre male swimmers - now record breaking "female" swimmers is just the latest example.
A year ago when Dabo was being dragged through the mud and vilified as a racist based on a tweet from a disgruntled ex-player, very few showed up to his defense. A simple rebuttal tweet by Watson, Wilkins, etc would have blown up the narrative being painted but there were only crickets. Don't get me wrong, I have always admired them as both players and people, but that was really a let down.

Teenagers folding under pressure of the woke mob is nothing new. It’s always been that way. When I was in high school, I went through a phase where I idolized ‘N Sync and went so far as perming my hair to look like Justin Timberlake. All the cool kids who liked Toby McGraw, Faith Hill and Kid Rock made it a point to make fun of me by singing “bye, bye, bye” whenever I walked by.
That’s why we need someone super charismatic who ALSO knows how to make money. Those impressionable kids will have a tough time folding under the pressure of the mob when there are big dollar signs at steak.

Interesting. I never saw that tweet. I guess I would hope that with all Dabo does for the young men under his care and the "family" dynamic he lives by, former (and current) players would flock to his defense. There were some who did, but it seemed like an awful lot who kept quiet.

Then on the other hand, you have the ones that don't feel that way and you have the ones that want to make lots of money and feel that he is the guy to do that for them, or have be taught to think for their selves, you could have lots of recruits. A new mystery to ponder!

No shot…even the SEC has standards. Plus, can you imagine the headaches he would cause…every season would be an undefeated season whether he lost games or not. He wouldn’t concede defeat regardless of the final score.
In the end, he would just destroy what’s left of CFB. Once he installed enough sycophants in the NCAA and SEC front office, they would just declare every game a victory, regardless of score. There would be no reason to have games, so everyone else would just fold up shop.
