Honestly at this point, we should be pulling for Wake to represent the ACC on the national stage. We have carried the torch for over a decade, and on our one "off" year we should support them in their journey as well. I have very little doubt that with several "changes" in the off-season we cant be back at the top again next year. However, pulling for us to beat them and de-rail any chance of national recognition of an ACC team this year may not exactly be the best move. Though I hope it is a good game, I also don't see us beating them with the way the offense has performed this year.

Demon Deac Alum here (and father of 2 Clemson grads). I would obviously love to see my Deacs run the table, but have my doubts. Agreed, our offense is very strong and we are well coached. However, our defense is very suspect. I attended the game at West Point and we had trouble stopping a pretty one-dimensional Army team. We'll see how we do against NCSU and Clemson. We might just be the cure for the Tiger's offense. No matter what happens, enjoying the ride! Years like this only happen infrequently for the Deacs (1979, 2006).

when Wake lead 35 - 0 at the half. Wake scored 5 TD's and only had something like three total offensive possessions.
I think I fired Tommy Bowden about 24 different times throughout the course of that game.

Clemson goes to South Florida and beats No. 11 Miami 24 - 17 and turns around the next week and loses to Duke 13 - 16.
The most consistent thing about Tommy Bowden's teams were how inconsistent they were.

When we got to the parking lot, a wake fan from the top row yelled down to us
“Come back Clemson fans ... you only need 15 field foals”

IF Wake is able to finish the season 13-0, I hope they get no higher than 5th.
I would much rather be able to say "Wake was snubbed" or "an undefeated ACC team should get in no what their name is" than have to see Wake creep in at #4 and get beaten by 40 to open the playoffs.
I feel the snub would be much better for the ACC's reputation in terms of helping future 1 loss Clemson teams get the nod as opposed to seeing what the rest of the conference looks like against elite competition.

Exactly. It would matter who Wake played in the playoff. They would be blow out.

They can get pretty high but.not high enough to threaten the status quo at the top of the rankings. Maybe 7-8 at best. Heck, after this season, it may be a couple years before we are taken seriously again. I could see us missing out with some one loss teams, which we didn't really have to worry about until we crapped the bed this season.

Your suggestion is one possible scenario.
Another scenario, as long as the conference winner avoids being embarrassed on the national stage, is that the conference gets a little more credit for its depth if someone other than the big name schools wins and then shows well in their bowl game appearance.
The narrative will need to be pushed by Clemson that we were the ones making the conference look weak and when we slipped just a little there were very good teams waiting to rise up (which is not exactly true).

They’ll be behind the conference champs from the B1G 10 SEC and Big 12, as well as any one loss non-conference champs from the B1G or the SEC, and probably Cincinnati if they’re undefeated. So, I’m gonna guess their ceiling is 6.

Honestly can't see them making the Playoff, even if they win out, though I think it might be fun to see a brand new team in there. Guessing Cincy will be the party crasher.

I think the only way Wake breaks into the top 4 is if they win out, win the ACCCG, and then win a big bowl game. This would get them in the top 4 AFTER the playoff. However, I think this is highly unlikely, not with their defense.
