personally I think I would find UCLA very attractive as a recruit

Elite athletic programs (most national titles in the country in all sports combined). Great location, very good school and cool colors/uniforms (yes that matters.
Plus because they haven't ever really won big in football there is the allure of being the first to do it at UCLA which I think is more attractive than just being another cog at say USC

Well it's certainly not the high crime rate, cost of living, air pollution, traffic, or pretentious people... So I'd imagine it's gotta be the surplus of +i+s & a$$.

UCLA reminds me of Tennessee, always one year away.
Also, UCLA is in Westwood (where Holmby Hills is) which is one of the nicer neighborhoods in LA.

Couple of things...

They just started recruiting better the last few years. UCLA is an amazing school and Westwood is awesome. It is kind of a college town in a way. I always wondered why they had problems recruiting in the past.

LA is not a college town.
UCLA sure aint Clemson. Traffic stinks, parking stinks. Campus isn't all that. Yeah, I guess Westwood could be considered kinda cool and give it a bit of a college campus feel but even that area is so congested and no parking is available. It is just awful.
No on campus stadium. I assume they get a police escort to the Rose Bowl on gameday so that turns an hour to two hour travel down to about 30 to 45 minutes. Practice area around campus is pretty much null.
I guess the weather, the facade of Tinseltown might do it to a few of these kids. Academics are great. Has a top rated medical facility but with the information I know, I wouldn't necessarily go there. They may be rated #3 hospital in the nation or in the West but I shake my head at some decisions they make or better yet choose not to make.
Mora is a good recruiter. Maybe this Rosen kid next year will lead them to more victories. I don't know.
Go Tigers

Westwood is kind of a college town. It doesn't feel like it's in LA. It's kind of insulated. You obviously have been there though I can tell. I agree though, that if you're a driver that the parking would be a pain. I wouldn't even drive if I went to UCLA. I think it's a cool spot though.

Same question for Ole Miss ? Whatever they are doing in regards to landing top recruits in Oxford is certainly working . They have what to show them ? Talk of changing the culture ? I don't get it . It's not recent , sustained success . What is it ?

Free studio time to write your own rap song(s)?
But seriously, read this article from 2 weeks ago:
http://gridironnow.com/hugh-freeze-can-recruit-why-is-that-hard-to-believe/
Everyone thinks it's money bags but the pitches are all there for Freeze. Whether it's "come to ole miss and make it to the NFL in 3 years", "you'll get immediate play time", "come help us win our first SEC championship in 50 years", "we have a two-game winning streak against Alabama" or whatever combination of the above he employs; it seems to be working for them. I too would like to know though!

Sounds like a similar deal to what Dabo has fostered at Clemson . Coach cares a lot , small town appeal , building men from boys , NFL pipeline well ensconced and just an overall great place to spend 3-5 years of your life .
