How does Clemson Football improve for next year?

It's clear we are not hiring more experienced coaches and we aren't upgrading talent with the portal.... so whats next? How does the current staff and talent improve themselves to a Playoff level team? Cade is obviously a huge factor, and I hope we become a run 1st team with our 2 stud RBs. Thoughts?

Avoid passing stats like this:

CMP - 8
ATT - 29
YDS - 99
CMP% - 27.6
TD - 1
INT - 1
LNG - 59

Get physically and mentally tough. We don't seem to have killer instincts anymore.

1. Ignore t-netters
2. Win the lottery this week
3. Buy more 5 star players

Next to HC and QB the OC is the pivotal man on the team. A new hire there could spark an excitement we need. Chances of that happening are next to nil.

QB/WR/OL/DB play

If those 4 positions make significant strides, we'll be a playoff contender

you beat me too it

My thoughts as well. Those four position groups need to improve.

Fortunately, we return most of the starters from those positions. So they should be better. Unless our coaches somehow cause them to regress.

you will see that we have a ton of returning starters and depth across the board.

QB. The QB either elevates the talent on the team or he diminishes it. Improved tempo, pre-snap reads, post snap reads, running ability, RPO ability, throwing accuracy, timing, leadership. I could go on and on. Everyone knows how bad we were at the position and how it killed out team's confidence and performance and severely limited our play calling options. Our OC had to constantly focus on building confidence in a fragile QB instead of expanding the playbook and building depth behind starters at all offensive and defensive positions because games were closer late than they should have been.

We basically return our entire 1,2 and 3 deep at OL, CB, and WR while adding additional options in recruiting. Many players returning from injuries to go with the new options. LB returns 2 of 3 starters who should be much improved and should be an improved group overall. Our depth at the position will be younger, but longer and more talented and probably more ready to contribute meaningful snaps without being a liability. The defensive line could actually improve with the returning players and new recruits. Our D-Line didn't live up to the hype. Peter Woods will be an instant impact player.

I expect us to be much better next year.

Not sure we can and if we could be ACC Champs and 11-3 again this year it would be great as long as one of the losses was not to South Carolina.

We need 500 yard avg offense and 300 defense. 35 or more points avg a game. 75 plays a game avg.

I don’t care if the wishbone produced that kind of numbers and won. Just need to change the offense back to score fast and plenty.

Much improved offensive line, more consistent overall defense, better offensive play calling during games, and of course Ngata CATCHING the DANG ball!

3 Easy Steps

1

Jan 11, 2023, 1:31 PM

1. Revamp our goals for the season. Instead of giving the team a "3 out of 5 means success" list of goals, make them more rigid and aggressive. BHAGs work.

2. Hire a 3rd party to look at our nutrition and strength/conditioning programs to see if there are opportunities for improvement.

3. Change our practice habits. Derion Kendrick's comments about how much harder practice is at UGA still bothers me. We need to get our hunger back and it starts on the practice field.
