How do we replace Jordan Leggett?
Dec 17, 2016, 1:09 PM
|
|
Leggett was second on the team in receiving yards hauling in 38 reception for 637 yards and 7 TDs. Between them, Cannon Smith and Milan Richard caught 3 passes for 34 yards and 0 TDs. Add to this that Leggett seemed to step up on the big stage and converted critical 3rd downs when the game was on the line. Second to Watson, will he be the toughest player to replace on offense going into the offseason?
thoughts?

Will replace him with Richard, Williams, Cannon and Chalk. These guys, when they go in the game, simply don't get their number called.

My guess is we'll replace him with one of the other TE's on our roster.

No, expect Dabo & Co. to stay one step ahead in this regard and do the unexpected.

Next year I see the passing attack taking advantage of speed mismatches rather than size, Cain will probably be our leading receiver and I see g Williams starting at TE as more of a nick olearyesque type of player however with guys like Overton and Higgins waiting in the wings well still have plenty of chances to beat people with size alone

Losing him will be big but I believe Milan is ready to step up.

We need to recruit a replacement with his skill set. I don't think that player is on this roster.

Great point - I don't know that he will be replaced.

That is to say, he probably won't be directly replaced by another tight end with equal skills, ability, and corresponding production. I do suspect we will have good tight ends, as well as other players at other positions, who will make up for losing JL. Plus the offense will just look a little different; maybe a little less tight end and more throws to players out of the backfield? Our coaches will scheme and gameplan accordingly.

Milan has paid his dues. Beefed up. He is a big man now. He and Cannon are ready. Clemson blocking will improve. TE catches and TD's will develop through 2017 season with reps.
It wasn't that long ago that Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd could not get any reps. Go Milan! Go Cannon! Go Tigers!

Me too. We knew him in HS and he is a great player. He's ready to go now and wish him nothing but success.
