APM watched about 10 minutes of Biden's speech last night. 10 minutes of my life I will never get back. Switched to the Braves and saw some good homers though. Anyhow...
The phukking masks and social distancing. FFS, every dayum one of those people are vaxxed. I know, I know, they are setting an example for the public, etc. But if Biden's data are true, that 50% of all US adults have had at least one dose of the vax, then at what point does the masking end? At some point stupid is stupid and we have to let Darwin take care of those who refuse to believe in the virus or to get vaxxed.
And of course, some countries are still struggling mightily. Mrs. PAW and I have put off our 25th anniversary trip to Europe. Even if they do open up some this summer. We will go next year when hopefully it is all easier. And I don't want massive flights to India or Brasil either. But at some point we gotta start living normally within the States.
And YES, once school is out and people go on vacations there will be another spike, as there will in the fall when kids go back to school and during the holidays and in cold and flu season. Let's not panic. Just get vaxxed (or not) and know that it is something we have to live with.

It's a minimal inconvenience to wear a mask, and vaccinated people might still transmit the virus, so why not set a good example for the nation?
Their decision to mask up could have a net positive effect, even if it doesn't influence certain super-smart citizens who realize that America is all about screwing over other people with their own selfishness and oversensitivity to being inconvenienced.

theater to "set a good example for the nation". Maybe they should all walk into the chambers holding on to a knotted rope to set an orderly example for the rest of us?
Again, this idea that they are a 'minimal inconvenience' seems to be coming from people in which is truly is a minimal inconvenience for them. Unfortunately, they don't seem to realize there are millions of people out there required to wear them for hours at a time in not so pleasant environments where it's a hindrance to communication and an overall unnecessary PITA.
IMO masking has become almost a religious like exercise for people to flaunt how "unselfish" and virtuous they are. You aren't saving grandma by jogging in the park with your mask on, nor are you by putting it on to walk 10' into a restaurant where you promptly remove it after being seated.

Die an old man peacefully in your own bed, surrounded by your children and grandchildren who love you dearly, only to get to those pearly gates and be informed that because you didn't wear your mask into Cabelas on June 18th, 2020 a 78 year old obese diabetic with cancer got COVID and died....So no heaven for you!

Did you wear a a mask last year, spoon? Will you wear one next year? The rest of your life? The death rate is the same, so protect people forever. Don’t expect you to be at any football games for the rest of your life. Super spreader and all that.
