Honor lost his starting spot mid-year

Mar 22, 2022, 12:55 PM

He only started 12 ACC games and saw his minutes drop down to 22 min/game after the non-conference schedule was up. He was averaging way more than that before ACC play. Dawes was getting 29 min/game and Hunter was getting 26 in ACC play.

He only averaged 6 PPG in those 22 minutes a game and shot 26% from 3 in ACC play. Dawes was 39% and Hunter was 40%. Hemenway was 34%. In total, he only averaged 7.7 PPG last year.

And y'all are mad he's leaving? Truth is he shot pretty well against non-conference teams but struggled once he had ACC guys guarding him. He was a borderline ACC player from the get-go. Good player with some nice moments the last 2 years, but nothing extraordinary.

We'll be able to replace his production from the transfer portal/new freshmen coming in. Whether we win or not is another question. But this is not a back-breaking loss for the basketball team.

And here is the perfect candidate. Clemson recruited him out of HS:

Sacrificing depth and team chemistry has worked very well for Brownell so far so we should definitely continue down this same path.

Clemson basketball fans during the season: No!!!! Our team sucks. Brownell can't coach or recruit. Our team isnt talented enough.

When a player transfers in the off-season: NOOOOO this is all brownell's fault. This player was going to be so good. He provided much needed depth and chemistry!

There is no reason to have an issue with baseball, basketball or football players going into the Portal. The Portal is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that only in a few situations is ever found. In today's world, many, many players don't care about an education and that is the sad part of the Portal.

He's a solid defender but not hitting the 3-balls...

was unexpected and disappointing.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Nice kid with good skills. However, he had lapses in passing (too many TO's) and driving the lane (too many blocked shots) amongst the tall ACC trees that guard that lane. When you're only 5'9" and think you can shoot over a 6'10"+ defender, you more than likely will have issues. He'd fit in better with a low to mid major program. I wish him well.
