Guys, I am NOT trying to flame

Rather, I am just saying that schedule matters. It has in play off appearances for many teams.
If you answer the question honestly..
Now, I think Clemson would have won the title in 2016 and 2018 no matter what conference they were in. Period.
Clemson is currently one of the 3-5 National programs in college football. I am not saying otherwise.
Just making an honest statement.
Early prediction - Clemson 38 Georgia 34
But, my simple question does

OK, here's the answer you've set up...

... if you REALLY believe your own tripe: Bama and LSU, because they play in the weak ACC, would be unable to compete against the SEC leviathans and since Clemson has proven that WE can, you must, to be true to your narrative, believe that they couldn't. You must also believe that Bama and LSU would suffer from lack of competition, ANNND, how could they possibly recruit at a high level? EVERYBODY know that top players only want to play in the SEC.
Here's a question for you, honest answers only- if UGA played in the SEC West, would they ever make it to the SEC Championship?

I think we would have had a shot but it is obviously tough to know. LSU in 2019 was just a tremendous team that would have beaten anyone that year.
If the point is Clemson has an easier road to the Playoffs RIGHT NOW due to the failure of another top ten team in the ACC, then the answer is yes. You would have to be blind not to see the advantages overall as of today.
Keep in mind though, the SEC schools have infinitely more resources (ie advantages) whether it be $ or in-state recruiting or better exposure, etc than we do.
You’re slowly seeing FL, UT get better so UGAs path to the SECCG will get tougher and likewise, FSU, Louisville, Miami, UNC, UVA and eventually VT will certainly improve making our path harder.
The opener should be close but I tend to lean UGA winning unless our OL shows substantive improvement.

Unless you have the power to change the way conference alignment that has been set for many years, your question is just dumb! We never know what team is the best team until the time of the 4th quarter has ended. Your question was fully intended to get something started with yourself, and the Tiger fans on this board. You are a idiot that like to get chit started!!!

Honest Answer; Yes, because Clemson would have been in the SEC.

Ohhhhhhh, so the problems Georgia has been having are due to LSU and Bama. I get the reason for the hypothetical.

If we were in the SEC East, we would have had a good shot.

We would have lost in the SEC Championship Game in 2019, for sure. Had we been undefeated up to that point, most likely we would still have made the playoffs, as of course the 2nd best team in the SEC must be at least the 2nd best team in the country, if they have only one loss.
I do not think that us, or anyone else, would have beaten 2019 LSU. That was just an amazing year by an amazing collection of athletes.
Given that we have been competitive with Bama, and beaten them twice when no one thought we would, I say we would have competed well with 2020 Bama. But, that game (rematch in the Playoffs)would never have happened anyway, as Ohio State would still have taken us out in the semis the same way they did. We just did not have a sufficient pass rush, which, truth be told, would probably have doomed us against 2020 Bama in any game as well.

Maybe, maybe not. LSU got better as the year went by. We also played a very poor game against them while they had the game of their lives. Bama, who knows? They are always well coached and have great players. Who ever plays better on a given day usually wins. So I guess I'm saying... that's a totally useless question.

LSU hosted the game as well. I hope Charlotte drops their name in the hat to host the national championship game. Essentially that would be the same Clemson playing there. Glad I missed that trip NOLA. Their fans are worse than the ones in Athens if that’s possible.

Depends on how the schedule played out and how the divisions looked and all. If a 12-0 Clemson loses to LSU in the ACCCG, they are still probably #3 or 4. But hey, I get part of the SEC argument, people just use it way too often. I would love to get Clemson in the SEC. Imagine Clemson in the east... move Mizzou to the west where they belong. Clemson already plays SCar every year and would love to play UGA every year. Give me some visits from UF and the west rotation coming to Death Valley every other year... yeah I will take that. Since FSU fell off the map, our home schedule has been lacking for sure.

Do you you mean if they were in the SEC but were allowed to play the ACC for just those two years? That does not make sense - they would have ALL the inherent advantages of the being in the SEC and then play in the "poor" ACC. So, it's comparing apples and oranges and the question does not deserve an answer.
On the other hand 1f you mean if they had been in the ACC for the past 10 years (say) and would Clemson be in the playoffs, then my answer would be absolutely "yes".
An interesting point is that while the SEC fans are quick to point that Clemson is able to dominate because it plays in the "weak" ACC, they don't take Clemson/Dabo credit for being able to challenge the the Alabamas and the Ohio States DESPITE being in a weak conference and without the financial resources that SEC provides these teams.

And don't forget, Alabama usually blows through that tough SUC schedule too.

But ESECPN would be raising h&11 about the ACC getting 3 teams in the playoffs. No wait, if Bama, LSU, and Clemson was in the ACC, then ESPN would be called EACCPN wouldn't they!!!
