Flew all the way to Nebraska for golf (from SC) and it is pouring down rain and 45 degrees. ……. All day! Ever happened to any of you?

2nd highest rated course is named "Dismal River Golf Club".

With a name like that, what did you expect?

:)

When I lived in PA and NC we had a small group that would come to Myrtle Beach the week of St Patty’s Day every year to play golf. We did this for about 15 years straight. Well, MB in mid-March has shown us everything from 80 and sunshine to 35 and rain/snow/sleet mixed. But we always had fun!!

I guess it is only fair that I show a photo of the golf course and a couple of the guys in my group.

Sand Hills is a fabulous course. Going back out in September for another shot at it. Did Crenshaw off any putting tips?

No, unfortunately Ben doesn’t like the wind and cold either. I have known him for 26 years and was with him at the opening of Sand Hills right after I met him. He was standing just above the 18th hole (our 45th hole of the day) watching me try and make a 15foot downhiller for par. I don’t think my put came within 3’ of the hole! Ben is truly one of the nicest and most genuine people you will ever meet.

catch a bunch of trout and spottails, it droped down in the 40's at night, with HIGH winds during the day. Killed it. I have been wanting to take a trip to Texas for a week and fish for those hughe F2 strains. If I go, I sure will be ticked if bad weather hits...

If you hit into a cornfield, is it considered out of bounds?

Well, the property the course was built on was originally 8,000 acres and eventually pared down to 1000. I don’t think there is a corn field within 1000 miles of the sand hills. The ground is pretty poor for crops and it takes about 20 acres to support one cow. The last that was working behind the turn house counter said her ranch was “small”, as they only had 250 head of cattle. My quick math computes that to 5,000 acres ……… a small ranch!

PS …… not an out of bounds stake on the golf course.
