I've never had the idea he was attached to any place or school. he goes to whomever writes the biggest check. Plus there is nothing inherently attractive about the state of Alabama

You are closer to the right answer than you think. In Texas she would be C tier not even close to A tier talent. In Alabama she is more popular than Lynrd Skynrd. That is popular.
